    Charteau regains the Polka dot.

Vino won in Mende in 1999

Now if Contador had taken the jersey it would have been Astana and not Saxo doing the work, although they are more than capable.

    From Cnews...
Andy Schleck is having a well-known black-coloured soda drink, banned in other teams for its high acidity... If it helps!

I find it hard to fathom why a team would spend so much effort on the team classification yet neglect the KoM jersey? One is significantly more valuable than the other in publicity yet very few teams ever seem to try for the latter.

caisse have a shot at both with Moreau

Saxo guys looked strained on that last climb. Astana getting it easy.

According to letour.fr, this is a "plain" stage... so top 25.

    Vino dumps the rest.
    Ryder and Kiryenka for company.
    Up comes The Freiburg Phantom.

Levi interviewed on Versus says he intends to suck on Menchov's wheel at Mende.
    Inspiring.

You'd have thought so, but not according to: http://www.letour.fr/2010/TDF/LIVE/us/le_parcours.html

The only medium stages were Station des Rousses and Gap.

will saxo be over concerned about these four? Vino and Ryder will lose time in the Pyrenes with the steepness of the climbs?

Won't Rabo/Lampre etc be more concerned as these aren't challengers to Schleck, but to their riders?

Their own site is inconsistent - the narrative on the rhs says 9 flat and 4 medium, but the table shows 11 and 2.

    suspect the table is wrong....

Looks like Saxo Bank's poker tactics have paid off, other teams move up to chase now.
