I live about 15 miles from Clacton, it's like Rhyl but worse*. During the summer holidays the worst, and I mean the sub £9.50 Sun Holiday, crowd from East and South London turn up and the place has more broken glass than Kristallnacht, the rest of the time it's full of mongs so mongy they make the residents of Benefits Street look like fine upstanding citizens.

The highlight of last year was Aldi opening opposite Lidl. The year before it was a 99p store opening on the high street.

Where abouts are you staying? If it's a caravan site I hope to god for your sake it's not Jaywick.

*Having said that as most of the mongs hate sunlight, outside of the school holidays it's actually quite nice, although Frinton is better and so's Walton.

Why Clacton? Is it to look at coastal defence? Or to learn self defence?

    Have fun.

yes that's the one, spent a lot of time on the full sus lately, really got in to moving the seat around with the dropper, it feels natural - I find myself looking for the button on the HT now...

My Dad just got the North American version (he lives in Canada) in black to replace a Ford Expedition! He's over the moon with it + I belive the North American one has an extra 10bhp. He had the original 500 in his youth so I think he wanted to re-live it 8)

Easy to push it up to 200bhp, 240bhp is possible but scary in such a small car. Front of the all new 500 Arbarths need bracing otherwise they're quite 'wobbly' - remember you're basically driving a 3 door fiat panda with three times the power. Do not fit cheap cheap rubber if you want to corner at a reasonable speed or dislike auto lane change if you hit standing water - the rear beam's a b*tch. And if anybody seriously wants to recreate the original arbarth experience rip out the 100+kg of unwanted crud inside and listen to the engine scream (wife won't let me do this  )

I'll go now before I start talking about BMW 330ds

I will try and resist the temptation to fiddle. I'll probably fail. I prefer handling over big power, and am obsessed with the right rubber - I even have a favourite tyre. Any more power would need better damping, that's for sure.

Speaking of big diesels, it's replacing my Merc C350Cdi in AMG sport+ trim.

Royal Mail have apparently lost my IXS lid, but Leisure Lakes have kindly refunded me as they no longer have the blue model in stock, although I think stock problems may be the real reason why I didn't get it in the first place as just about every other retailer has also sold out of both blue and greem (CRC, Kustombikes, Bike-Discount, you name it). With a stroke of luck I did manage to find a blue one from a place called 18bikes in Derbyshire though. I tried to call them to check if their site does live stock updates but they're closed on Wednesday so I just chanced it and placed an order anyway.

I'm slimming down the fleet and sticking with the 456 as the sole off road bike for now so this looks like it would come in handy.

I may have made myself look a massive bellend, but i got the letter today from school, and its actually Slapton not Clacton.  We got told about it about a month ago, so i forgot the name of the place

Well im glad its not Clacton from what you have described. Funny description by the way  That benefits street program was a right laugh. They are all the sort of people that you would see on Jeremy Kyle! Or in jail obviously.

Its for studying rivers and flooding management. Its compulsory for my geography skills paper in may/june time. Coastal defence was 2 years ago at Weymouth. Was a really nice place.

I stayed in a hotel called Fairhaven, literally across the road from the beach and the hotel was not the best. You couldnt get 2 people through a corridor at the same time.

There were loads of dodgey looking people around the beach area at around 10-11 pm ish. Apparently someone tried selling weed to one of my mates. The places we visited were really good. Like this beach here

I recognized this beach from Nanny McPhee when i went there. They did a bit of filming there. :)

I used to go early summer and spend some time training on boats down there, even putting on some displays on the beach. Outside of the town can be ok and the nightlife is a good laugh too but I wouldn't live there

To put the thread back OT, I just bought a 65mm Zenith AM stem - 100mm current one is nonsense!

My Epicon forks arrived today. Turns out the gold decals are lacquered over, so I can't remove them.

    You cant be serious. Surely.

Yup, I abhor anything gold, can't stand it. You're talking to a man whe went to great lengths to rid his StripleR of its OE gold anodised calipers, 'cos he found them so revoltingly offensive, lol.
Just whack one of these over the decals and youre sorted.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SR-Suntour-Ep ... 1c32fdaf63

That's what I was going to replace them with, if I could've removed them, but they're not quite the same.

    61575_00_d.jpg

I wanted the X1s (blue decals) really, but if I'd got stung for import duty then they would've worked out almost as expensive as Rebas.

My Uberbike lock on grip sleeves arrived today. If anyone's interested in a comparison to the Superstars then they're identical in pattern and colour, but not quite as much give in them - they don't have the cutouts in the plastic inner sleeve that the Superstars do. I imagine they probably come out of the same factory.

pretty sure its not that easy to get 200hp from the 500's engine - would need a new turbo for starters and wouldn't be cheap. I'd also be concerned about the running gear taking the strains too.

Do you have a link for that as I'm struggling as well to find the blue one in small / medium?
