There's gonna be a lot of that kinda thing around next year, though rumour has it Shimano might be rolling out a new 1x drivetrain at Sea Otter0 -
Yeah, I expect there will be. Looking forward to trying some different options. I had given up on shimano bringing something out, but to be honest if it's anything like the price of SRAMs offerings I will just stick with me conversions0

Quite comfortable, decent fit for me - will have to see about quality once they get used on the bike. The carbon fibre look knuckle protectors are proper armour - rock solid and pretty thick: these gloves would make top knuckle dusters. Also good is the cuffs cover more of your wrist than some others. The rubber gromit things on the finger are oddly placed as the ones near the end of your fingers cover the last finger joint but the higher ones cover the bit between knuckle and main finger joint."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." Interesting. 'Scuse my ignorance, but which sprocket do you remove to make room for the 42? In the specs they're listing the original 11 and 36 teeth sprockets, and judging by the spacing of the sizes listed it's a 17 tooth that they've removed?0 -

Correct. Remove the 17t and you get a 11-13-15-19-21-24-28-32-36-42 10speed cassette, 90% of XX1/X01 range for a relative pittance. Can be made even better by removing both the 15 and 17t cogs and replacing with a 16t to make the gaps between a bit more even. The 42t is right on the limit of what current mechs can deal with, I think a 40t would be better, but it shows what can be done and offers the benefits of XX1 at a tiny fraction of the cost. Wolf tooth, Absolute black and others will have versions ready in the coming months. I reckon these are gonna be like narrow/wide chainrings and they'll be everywhere before too long.0 -
740mm flat bars. Perfect for my 29er and not to expensive.

Cheers, bwana. I have to say that's the first 1 x 10 solution I've seen that would maybe tempt me (in conjunction with a narrow, wide chainring, although I'd need new cranks for that too), assuming the shift action from 36 to 42 cogs works properly. I did wonder whether losing the 17 would leave too much of a gap between ratios, but your idea of fitting a 16 would probably get round that.0 -
Just found this about it while browsing another site - don't know if the offer's still valid, but it offers a $15 discount.

Think the same offer was available through BR, to be honest I couldn't be bothered to start emailing people to get the discount. I would of never got round to ordering one if it involved extra work, so I just bit the bullet. It's only about £60 delivered anyway.0 -
A bash ring for my new build.

Nice. They sound good. May try a pair for Antur on Sunday.0 -

Its not the wet crotch id be worrying about. Its the fact that your pelvis will be turned to dust by the time youve finished riding.
The saddle does look awesome though. So its worth it.0 -

Depends - looks like it's designed to have a fair bit of flex in that latticework. You never know, it might work. Or it might not...0 -
It's only a problem if you've got something small enough to get stuck in the holes"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0
