Letter from Lloyds about my PPI claim. They found in my favour so a cheque in the next 28 days of £2923 will be mine, add that to the £100 on Thunderball Tuesday and £300 from selling Bike 3, this week is going well. Must stay away from Wiggle/CRC et al.

Really need to sort this out, did you use a template or did you just call them?

It's the Friday before a bank holiday weekend and quite frankly, sod it, I am off to cycle slowly round Richmond park a few times. Wave if you see me!

Sold a bike yesterday. Got a text this morning from the new owner saying how pleased his daughter was with the birthday present and thanks for keeping it nicely maintained etc.

Nice when they go to someone that appreciates them :D

However. There was a few hours yesterday when there were no bikes in the house. One bike was in the shop, and I was out with MrsDhope on the other two. First time in 5 years that there were no spares.

I'm with the Co-Op bank. I looked at my past Visa card statements, realised i was paying PPI.
I rang and asked what the procedure was, they sent me form to fill in on which I told them that I didn't recall being given the option, and if I had I would have declined it.
They sent me an offer of what i'd payed plus interest (About £700.00) which I happily accepted.
Took about 6 weeks in all. No need to through a claims company.

One phonecall to Lloyds back in Jan/Feb after a PPI claim company called me, Lloyds called me 2/3 times and write to me once before final decision letter, just waiting for cheque now. In all it's taken an hour of my time with phonecalls etc over a 10 week period.

The line to remember is you weren't given an option to refuse PPI, you had to take it as part of the loan agreement etc. Look on MSE for better advice on starting a claim. I knew no details of loan other than the amount.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

All a claims company do is fill out the form for you and charge you a hefty percentage of the refund for doing what you can do yourself.

As the only fool who never took out PPI I know nothing about this subject but as a general rule never accept the first offer. Always ask for more - the worse they can say is no.

To counter-balance the anti-bus driver posts - yesterday while I was on the bus the driver went out of his way not just to tell an elderly lady where she needed to get off but also to point out to her exactly where she needed to go once she had got off; and then pulled out from the stop to block the traffic (across London Bridge) so that she could cross the road safely.

Its a commuting forum is it not. I know that it happens to be fronted by a bike website but lets not get in to the details.

Finally had the chance to ride the summer bike again today after a major gear system fettle on Sunday overran and I had to take the winter steed on the clubrun.

New gear cables smoother than a knife through butter. And the front triple is actually properly indexed (yes, I can confirm it was a right bastard getting the thing set up). New cassette and chain don't slip and give me a better range than the old one (an admittedly minor change from a 12-27 to 11-26).

Looking forward to the weekends big ride :-)

Went to Decathlon (Coventry) today and bought my Grandaughter a PINK bike (she is six) with a carrier to hold her dolly. She is made up and so am I.

And today she rides said bike. Couldn't/wouldn't do it before, just like her mother she only does things she has decided she can do and wants to do.

Is that not true off all women? Certainly true for all those of female persuasion in this house.
    Glad she likes it.
  • First time ever at the velodrome today, it was amazing!

Also attempting a ride with Notts CTC Tomorrow...75 miles, the longest I'll have ridden (preparing for a century soon!).

Came home to a letter from the council asking me to be considerate with my parking because ..... From 10th June for one week they will be resurfacing my little pock marked, pot holed, crappy little lane. And because it's such a little lane, the fact that they are taking a whole week to do it must mean one thing - proper T A R M A C!

I swear to God, I'll be out there every evening checking their work with a spirit level.

Used my BikeRadar £25 Amazon voucher on Saturday afternoon, used Prime delivery for next day delivery and opted for a PM slot but that would have been £4 so went with all day Sunday delivery time. At 09:20 when I'm sat in the pub I get a push email from Amazon saying my parcel has been delivered.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

For breakfast, not beer. It's a major shock to the system getting up at 8am on a Sunday and heading out soon after.

Glad you're getting out, but probably not as glad as you are. Presumably no pictures of lovely nurses as you would have been in trouble with the Mrs.
    Heal fast.
