Are those £12 cam's any good?
I've been toying with getting a cheapish one to use on my motorbike and figured I could put it to use on the mtb too. Anyone got a link to a decent one?
Thanks.

recorded using 2 Muvi cams (the original cams), think I may have got the names of the trail sections wrong

Here's one of a track we've been sratching out up a local wood, taken with a new VholdR contour 1080HD. There's a few more vids on my youtube page, all taken with the original VholdR.

andyp79 - For the money, those £12 cams are superb. That's what all my vids have been filmed on. Obviously, they're not as good as the "proper" cameras like the VholdR contour or the Helmet Hero but you can't really expect them to be at £12.
>>Clicky<< for the original thread in buying advice. The cam most people went for is on page 1. There is now an option to get the exact same camera from a UK shop for about £16 delivered (link on the last page of that thread) and that's the one I'd go for now.
Dont forget that in addition to the £12/£16 for the camera, you'll need to buy a good quality class 6 micro SD card (4gb should do about an hour, most have gone for an 8gb).
If you want to see what kind of videos they give on a motorbike, there's a youtube vid here (not mine, just one I found).0 -
went for another new mount this morning. After my seat tube mount yesterday, I've tried a down tube mount today.
It's alright, but I think it should have been angled down a little bit more, maybe a little lower down the tube too.

Cat, what doyou use to mount the camera?0
-
Thanks very much Cat With No Tail.
Really appreciate the links and the pointers. I am still finding my way around on here tobe honest so really appreciate the help to save me trawling about aimlessly.
I have a few spare SD cards but I'll need to get a micro SD in that case. I'm guessing they'll be as much money as the camera.
Figured it's worth getting one for all the money it costs, and I'll be able to use it on both bikes.
Thanks.

chuckd I've added some pictures and details of all 3 mounts on the buying advice thread linked above. Drop me a PM if you want any more info or better quality pics etc.
andyp79 No worries fella. You'll probably be looking at about £15 for a good 8gb class 6 Micro SD card. You dont need one with a reader because you can just plug the camera into your PC through the USB cable and the PC will show it as an external drive.
Just mounted the camera back on the bars and took the bike for a spin down the sea front and through the sunken gardens on my lunch. Sunken Gardens start at about 6:10.
Nice little break in the day, certainly beats the crap out of working

Always nice to see pedestrians walking down the cycle path, eh CWNT?
We parked at the sunken gardens before getting on the coach for E2E, so I recognise a few places round thereIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I cant really complain about that though because I shouldn't really be in the sunken gardens.
TBH, peds on the cyclepath are ok on the prom anyway because it's pretty wide. It's the ones who walk right down the middle of it, refuse to move out your way, then look at you like you are satan himself that I want to beat to death with their own shoes.0 -
I found the ebuyer link to the £12 camera and saved it for later. (Until I get paid). Checked it just now to see if I could find a memory card to go with it. The camera is now £24.Why so serious?0

Sounds like a good shout to me too.
I checked out the mtb videos page in the link on the other thread about favourite bike films - some great stuff on there. Why so serious?0 -
I was hoping they'd sticky this thread if it ever got popular enough.
A riders vids section sound like a great idea though.
andyp79 I might know someone selling one of those ebay cams if you are interested. AFAIK he only wants what he paid. Drop me a PM with your email if you want me to put him in touch with you
That ebuyer one was only a limited offer.
At £24 it's still cheap tbh, but if you want the original £13 ebay one it's here0 -
Here's my 1st attempt with my £12 bargain!
Quite pleased really - though it does make the trail look flat and easy!!
This is my local woods - rocky, rooty and pretty slippy in this weather. On my own so on my Sunday with fullface as rather be safe than sorry!!
[quick edit in imovie with music and text added and exposure slightly adusted]
Strapped to my handlebars with a fenix torch mount. Shall attempt to mount somewhere better before next outing.

CWNT - Thanks very much for the offer. I am kinda hanging off until pay day.
I'll PM you my email anyway.

It's a bit of an oldy - I sold that green Stinky 18 months ago*, but I still quite like it. The Exeter Uni bike club are recording some footage for a longer video that we hope to edit together over the summer, will post a link to bikeradar.
I also made this animation for a piece of coursework:

*s**t just realised when my new bike finally turns up next week that'll be the 3rd DH bike since the Stinky - I should probably try to own 1 bike for a while![/url]0 -

The very bright sunlight shining through the trees in places seemed to confuse the camera quite a bit.0 -
Hubby is going to get one of those Mini DV recorders, he's put one in his watched list...cheers CWNT

www.youtube.com/user/ANTHERM23 I have played about with a few mounts I have made up from Acetal plastic bar. The mount under the saddle stays very free of mud but the one down by the crack would be good in the dry but the one I fitted near the drinks bottle holder works well forward and backwards.0

This little bit makes up part of my ride to work on a morning.

And just a bit of random off-the-bike footage from a clifftop ride I did yesterday.
http://www.vimeo.com/9504086
And finally, I had a 2nd attempt at a seat tube mount. This one is much better than the original as I placed the camera towards the top of the tube rather than the bottom. Manages to show a half decent view of what's ahead.

I had an unexpected offroad moment this morning on my way to work; it is a tale of suspense, horror, creepy mist, a metal beast and general raw emotion, only watching the video can do justice to what I was forced to endure:

Hello!
Here's some footage I shot at Llandegla yesterday.

First time there and it's a fantastic set-up. Sampled the famous bacon butty and, yes - brilliant!0
