  • Mancunianfightingcat I'm very impressed with Lee Quarry every time I see a vid of it. It looks like it's EPIC fun!

It's a great place to go and mess about in, on a warm evening, I've been up there once a week for the last month or so whilst the weather's been good.

Don't expect a long ride, but if there's a few of you, it can be great fun sessioning stuff and egging each other on!

Just don't get carried away like I did last week!

    Ooops![/url}

I imagine it's not so much fun in bad weather, looks quite exposed from what I can see in peoples vids.
  • Yeah, there's a wind farm about 1/2 a mile away, I suppose they wouldn't have put it there if it wasn't a bit breezey!

Lazy noobs pay a visit to -Whites level- inspiring video What could have been, that day was so hot (+28C) many brave men struggled.

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

That -Energy- is good fun to ride, need to give it some respect too ... like proper pumping there! A nice place to learn jumps.

Would have to answer that vid with some Cwmcarn part 1 and Cwmcarn part 2 (The learning curve), still need to work out how to attach camera to a frame or a post for more creative point of view.

I have been testing a new mount for the cheap camera. Gave it a proper test on my local loop today.

Riding is not the most exciting. Like I say, it's more of a test.

    What you think?

Looks pretty good, it would be slightly better if you could move the camera up a bit so we can see more trail, less tyre.

I was surprised at how smooth the video is from that, i'm not sure my md80 is as good as yours :(

Here's a vid I shot over the weekend of the fantastic new trails at Cragg Quarry. Enjoy.

  • How do you get up to Cragg?

I ride to Bacup everyday from Rawtenstall, and know its up Cowpe somewhere but dont have a clue where.
And if i get up there ill drop onto Lee Mill quarry and home, better than mooching the roda imho.

Got bored the other night and so thought I'd see what my local 10s track looks like on film.

Only a short "play" track, but it's ok for a 30min fix when I don't have the time to get to aston hill.

    Here are the results:

Just a quick vid of my local loop. Need to do something about those long shots. Think they'd be better with a better quality camera.
Nearly came off right at the end too, landed half in and half out of a hidden rut.

Where in Baldock? I'm nearby in Letchworth. Looks a bit better than my local loop.

Woo, just ordered a Gopro HD 8) OK, so I've stupidly ordered one with the car mount, and I'm probably going to get bummed for import tax but still, woo!

Seems many people jump to GoPro HD camera's camp. Gratz Northwind, you made a good choice ... car mounts could be fixed to your frame, so no worries. Hopefully you don't get import tax hanging over your head. But £300 is some chunk of money.

I've still got most of the mounts from the standard res one  I should've got the bike one to make it easier to sell the old one on, never mind. I'll be using it with my chest mount anyhoo.

Don't know yet... Might keep the 2 for our france trip in august and run both cams though. I keep nearly saying "alps trip" but we're not going to the alps, it just rolls off the tongue better.

    UPINSMOKE:

It's opposite Hillcrest Road... top of the only hill in town. Basically 3mins ride from tesco.

I lived in Letchworth last year... didn;t realise there was any riding there? dirt jumps etc?
Think I need a bigger Garage.

    Another clip from Glentress here

Not very good quality I know, it was shot on one of those 30 quid cameras from Amazon. Still gives a good idea of how fun the blue is

    Here is my new vdieo,

Went to Afan with a small group a few weeks back and hit "The Wall" in the morning, and after a spot of lunch did Penhydd.

We were going to do Whites level, but due to the Kona race thingy went and did Penhydd instead.

Out of both, I would say i preferred The wall, fantastic day, cant wait to get back.

Anywho, heres the uhtuube vid ---> oh btwI am no pro vid editor, so no slagging!! ;)

    Hope you enjoy!

No hills in Letchworth. A 16mile Greenway loop that keeps me off the roads for the most part and has 1 nice section through trees and a couple of spots you can use as jumps. OK for fitness but not much else.

From what my nephew was telling me there is quite a lot of dirt jumps appearing in Hitchin.

I'll have to head over Baldock next time I'm out.

    Two clips from two tracks at Long Mynd;

    Mott's Road

    Minton Batch

These are just the raw clips from the camera, will edit them when I get a chance. Sorry about the start of the Minton Batch one, had to stop to tighten the QR on the back wheel. Luckily noticed before heading down!

EDIT: In case anyone is interested, they are filmed on a ContourHD 1080.
