Just received the email below, etc....

    Hi Paul,

I understand your frustration and I apologise. We have recently introduced a new system to manage eBay and you receive an email automatically once payment has cleared. In theory, in line with our same day dispatch standard, there should be no discrepancies.

In light of the damaged stock being identified, items weren't dispatched despite you receiving an automated email to the contrary. Unfortunately due to last week's warehouse move, a backlog of orders meant that this wasn't flagged until after the weekend.

It really isn't a case of like it or lump it, we strive to provide you the best possible prices on quality bike kit and back it up with good customer service.

I hope this explains the situation a bit more clearly.

    Best Regards,

    Matt

Here is my response to the poor excuse of automated emails...

    Really Matt....

Had it been a case of being an 'automated' email response, I could have understood it a little better, but I can't see how it was...
I quote from your initial mail:

    Hi Paul,
Very sorry, just picking this up now. You're item has already been shipped.
Can you give me a message to pass on to the couriers such as 'leave with a neighbour'.
Worst case, it will be returned to us and dispatched again at a later date.
    Thanks,
    Matt

This was received after I had emailed you asking to delay the despatch of my stem, and unless your 'automated' service can read & comprehend emails, then come up with a fitting reply, I very much doubt it was 'automated'!

I look forward to your response.

    Kind regards,

    Paul

Not too impressed, thus far...

  • Same issue too with my stem from Planet X - seems like a monumental cock up to me, and it's the third time in a row I've had probs with them.

If you need a 26.0 stem, Wiggle are doing 2007 Ritchey WCS 120mms for £35ish, which is what I've gone for instead. 110grams apparently. They had over 10 left last night, and they seem to be able to manage stock control accurately.

Got my bars yesterday and managed to fit them before the wife got home.
Unfortunately the only stem I had in a 26.0 was 6cm and looks quite stupid (I normally use a 10 or 11) not to mention the drops sweep back half way down the tube.
Have a 3TTT Forgie on it's way from Ebay as we type.
I manged to re-use my existing Specialized tape and it is a bit thick, particularly on the bend just before the ergo's.
Down to the LBS tonight to see what they have instead.
First impressions are good especially the 3 finger bit.
Fingers crossed for the weekend weather.

    Tape1.jpg

Now taped in silver Fizik Microtex.

Goes well with the new saddle.

Also fitted the brand new 320TPI Open Paves and a KMC Ti N chain. Looks Da Bom. Proper pics tomorrow.

 Still not sure about the ends of the bar shape.
Looks like they were designed to stop shopping bags from falling off!
I'll have to wait until I get home...

Went out for a 5 hr ride today on the new set up.

The bars are fantastic, so bloody comfy. Those funny bits on the end are actually a really comfy extra place to hold! However, I have smll hands and anyone with big hands won't get on with the drops at all IMO.

KMC chain is  Sooooo much better than the Shimano ones.

One surprise was the saddle. Never tried an Arione before. Perhaps going out for 5 hours on a saddle I've never tried before is not a particularly good idea. I'm normally an Aliante man. However, I'm a convert. Really comfy.

Tyres were fab, really confidence inspiring in the wet. I was a big fan of the last iteration of the Vittoria Open Paves so I'm well chuffed!

I now have a fast but very very comfortable winter/training bike!

Are you really? Genuinely? Or is it just one of your usual posts whereby you question people's buying decisions with a sarcastic comment?

1 - Fitting/removal is by a very good link system rather than having to remove and replace a pin, it's a doddle! SRAM adopted the 'missing link' system too.

2 - Shifting is, IMO, better than with a shimano chain and miles better than SRAM.
  • Hmmm... do not tempt me! I was looking at chaning my Sram 1070 as I find it a little clunky.. wonder if this would sort it out :?

Had convinced myself that the silver/red Arione wouldn't match my Enigma, so resisted buying - not so sure now.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • Ordered a X10SL TiN. Got a tenner off as ordered some look pedals for the new build.

There's very little between Shimano and KMC chains TBH, Weirdly though KMC chains (except the SL) come up cheaper than Shimano chains and include the quick link.

Anyone not like their 44cm and want to sell them ?
My mate went a shade of green when I told him how much they were !
    He want's a pair now.

Just about to re-tape mine with some Bike Ribbon Eleganza, the used S-Works stuf is just a bit to phat.

    Cheers

Definitely not bars for sprinting, everything was fine, except when out of the saddle in the drops, my wrists were getting bruised banging on the tops/hoods sort of area.

Fine for me (I had a go!) Only thing I was mindful of was the length of the drops and my knees but this wasn't a problem.

I think I suit compact bars very well!

These are awful things to tape but the comfort makes up for it.
Took me best part of 2 hours trying to get the seams lined up with the Bike Ribbon Eleganza I used and then once past the hoods I realised it just isn't possible to keep it lined up all the way to the end. (re-using some Spesh tape wasn't too bad odly enough)
The Eleganza is really tacky and not sure yet I like it but there's no way I'm re-taping these again for a few months.
Arms do catch the tops a bit when using the drops but nothing to bad and the fact they make me use the drops more often outways this.
I agree with whoever wrote that they're not the prettiest but they are comfy and I'll be sticking with them for at least a month or two.
Oh yeah lacquer came away on the clamp area pretty easily on mine when setting up.
Forgie stem should arrive tomorrow to complete 3TTT set up.
