    Right.

In true NapD style, I've bought some.

    I'll let you know!
  • Ordered too.

26mm clamp though so will need a new stem as well.
  • Damm you, orderdd, too good to miss, Will see which I prefer, these or the Zipp ones on my new boardman.

Least fave will go onto my winter bike...

  • after reading a couple of reviews, it seems that how the bars are shaped, when your on the srops it slightly reduces the size by 1/2cm.

As I usually use 44, I might be better of swapping my order to 46?

Nap, you use 44 usually dont you? which option have you gone for?

    46.
  • Cool, I have changed it.

No, looks like I need to find another 26mm stem!

I'm on board too, size 46. Anyone received theirs yet? Interesting to see some feedback.
  • I usually use 42 (got 44) but guess it they are a bit too big I can sell them on with little/no loss :)

This may warrent a spend on some new bar tape too. I have been using specialized phat tape but may go for something slimmer to make the most of the curves on these bars.

Anyone tried the Zipp bar tape? It looks pretty cool but no idea on quality or durability.
  • I use microtex now... that is quite thin and the buff finish feels nice in the hand. Be hardcore like the guy who reviewed them

  • Me too... looks nice though! I did not want to cover my FSA Carbon bars when I got them they look so nice but I guess they would be pretty slippy when wet even with gloves

I'm using my zipp carbon bars and stem 'nude' but only until I've finalised my position as they are quite different to my old bars in shape. Got some Zipp tape for them and it looks very similar to the Specialized stuff but plain white, not speckled and embossed ZIPP. Apparently it's easy to clean and lasts well.

I asked about the Zipp tape because I currently have Zipp contours at the mo. Shame to swap them but they are just a tad too narrow. I might feel a bit of a fraud putting the Zipp tape on the new £40 carbon bars!

Hmmm - whats that famous bike quote ? 'Light, Strong, Cheap - choose any two ?'
  • I think the RRP on these was quite a bit. I would not have bought them if they were £40 RRP with no brand name on them. For the money they are worth a punt. If I do not like them I will just sell them on.

    DJB - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_triangle

I think I've seen it attributed to Mike Sinyard of Specialized ? But I could be wrong on that.

I'm on board too now, 46 size ordered....

    Lee.
I like shiny bikes - especially Italian ones.....!!
  • Ditto,

They'll go nicely with my incoming Colnago Primavera.

Now can one of you kindly chaps rustle up an Athena gruppo for, say, 50 quid. I trust one of you will "pull that together".
  • when I read carbon bars, for a moment I thought carbon had invaded even the snack market!

  • Got mine today... Mine weigh 224g which is a little heavier than my FSA ones but bloody ell... they are an absolute BARGAIN. Seriously how this guy is doing them for this much is beyond me. The shape is very different and I do prefer my FSA ones but then thats just what I am used to. They are a little wider and chunkier than my FSA ones, I have small hands though so the FSA do feel better for me but if you have medium/big hands these are going to be great.

These will be going on the winter bike for now but anyone who has bought them I would be very suprised if you are not bowled over by them for the money.

Thanks OP... bargain of the year so far 8)

Be interested to see what other peoples initial impressions are.

Mine arrived this afternoon- only ordered them yesterday!!

They do look quite different to anything else I have seen and I am not sure about the shape of the bars on the curve above the hoods yet, will need to get them taped up and have a ride first to check the comfort out.

That said, they are a crazy bargain and seem well made enough so definitely worth the punt.

As the previous post said - great shout from the OP!
  • You should be really chuffed mate. How does this guy make any money on these?! I was expecting them to be heavier than they are and they look and feel very solid.

I am still stairing at them shaking my head in disbelief they only cost £40

I'm telling anyone who'll listen about these - I'm still waiting for the wake up call as it seems too good to be true and I'm a pessimist!
