I can see there being another surge of post-upgrade photo's, on the 'your ride' section...
Why do I always buy stuff, with two weeks to go before I can see/touch it?

    I'm in.
Had to specify delivery on Wednesday only though as Mrs Galatzo is out all day.
I just finished Thomsoning my bike last weekend (post, stem and stem cap) and now I've bought a new set of bars in the wrong diameter for my beautiful X2 stem.
Not so keen on the X4 but cheaper to buy one of those than a Chorus post (to match the grouppo) and Zepp stem (if I can find one).

    Damn you carbon, damn you.

Could always wrap said hair from your head around the bar, prior to placing it in the clamping area...

    That's if you have hair!
I reckon I'll use an eyebrow hair, but they appear to be a little thicker.

Great so 25.8 or 26.0 stems are fine.
Shouldn't have any problems sourcing one on them.

  • I got one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=42331

£8.99 and a selection of sizes. I have ITM Forks on my winter bike so should all fit in nicely. I am going for black tape as I already have some and my winter bike get used in all sorts of muck.

Carbon bars are overrated to be fair.

Might bin the Zipp stuff, and put my 3T alloy stuff back on.

1st ride on the new bars today - sad to say they are not for me at all. I couldn't get comfy on the drops in particular, hands too big I reckon!

Anyway, they are up for grabs of anyone wants them - £35 delivered (save the ebay and paypal fees). If interested, drop me a PM.

Did a 50-miler on 'em today, seem OK but need rotating forward a bit I think. Struggled to find comfortable places for my hands from time to time. Don't think they'll be any worse than my old ones though...

  • Just bought some, along with a zipp stem, of which the planet x clearance shop have a couple left on ebay. Job done. Thnaks for the heads up guys.
  • Blimey, just found the original price for the bars - £179.99, and obviously the Zipp stem was £174.95 originally.
Total price paid for the 2, just over £85. Bargain indeed.
  • Mine arrived yesterday. Not got them actually on the bike yet but they fit my hands perfectly. I wish I'd got 2 pairs now for both my bikes

What size did you opt for? My 46cms don't fit my hands so you are welcome to them, £35 delivered!

I bought the 44cm ones. Gonna swap the bars about this weekend If the compacts I'm taking off don't feel right on my other bike and you've still not got rid of them I might take them off your hands.

    B*stard!

Planet X's ebay shop just refunded my Paypal account, stating that the stem I bought was damaged.
That's after emailing me on Friday to tell me that the stem had been dispatched... How they got it back, I don't know! :?
Now, I'm p1ssed off!
Got to start my search, again...

I've just had exactly the same happen to me. Firstly an e-mail to confirm dispatch and a day later a refund and the "it's damaged" e-mail.

I think they are advertising stock they don't have.

At least this time I had a refund, I'm still owed for a saddle I ordered in the last decade that never arrived.
  • Have a look at the one I posted about.. its good if your just looking for a cheapy one 8)
  • Yeah Planet X eBay shop is a bit stuffed. There seems to be no consistency between items advertised as available in the eBay shop and items that are actually available through there main shop site. Its a rather bad way of doing business as they are going to have to keep using flimsy excuses to get out of eBay sales agreements for items that have already sold out through other channels. It just leaves a bad taste and makes them look unprofessional.
  • I'm going to leave negative feedback, I'm really p1ssed off.

I did notice though - after you;d bought the last one, another new ad appeared from them on Ebay.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I think that's the time limit set by ebay. It comes up automatically when you enter the sale number!

I am thinking of starting a seperate post on here to berate PX... I've spent a few hundred quid with them this year, but.... Never again!

No need to, have a look at this: I don't think I was out of order in my original mail to them.

    Hi Matt & Dave,
I'm wondering how many other stems that were advertised/listed on ebay that
were damaged? Or do you have actual stock vs. advertised stock issues? I'm
one of at least three people that have been told the item has been
dispatched, to then be informed there is a refund due to damaged stock 24
    hours after the dispatched e-mail.

I have been a customer of Planet X & On One in the last 24 months, warehouse
move or not this really puts me off using you again.
I made another purchase elsewhere purely on the basis that you this stem in
stock, to find I'm back to square one is more than a little frustrating. I would appreciate a response/explanation regarding this.
    Thanks,
    Dan

I sent a polite email yesterday, too, but so far unanswered, so Matt doesn't need to be asking you for the details of the others.... He is fully aware!

Despite me spending +/- £400 this year with Planet X, and being on the verge of going for a Dura Ace groupset, the above quote say to me:

If you don't like it, lump it!....

    I don't, so I will.
I'd rather spend an extra £100 and buy the DA groupset from Merlin!

    Hi Guys,

    I too sent an e-mail.

I thanked price-shagger (Planet X)for the refund although i stated that i ideally would have preferred the product rather than a lame excuse for advertising goods they clearly did not have in stock.

I also mentioned that i picked up the issue was not just me via the BR forum (thus indicating that the word was spreading and cyclists do talk to each other).

Massive parallels to someone who i used to deal with in my business life who always offered really cheap prices, then had no stock so could not fit my expectations on delivery.

    Whats the point !!!!!!!

Very disappointed and in my book you're only as good as your last mistake !!!
