I think I've seen it attributed to Mike Sinyard of Specialized ? But I could be wrong on that.

    Gary Fisher I think.

    Keith Bontrager.

Right - bearing in mind this took me literally (no exaggeration) 2 minutes... (Remember, no tape / plugs)

It's a basic engineering principle. Bontrager/Fisher/etc didn't think it up.

It's a basic principle anywhere... as in, including the world outside of engineering..!

Design Engineers don't have any basic principles. Cheap is an unknown word to a designer, believe me.

    Anyway, bars ordered, X 2.

Cost was always one of the import factors in the stuff I was taught.

    Back to the taping...

You have to make sure you really pull the tape tight as you go, especially around that finger indentation and the transition from the hoods to the tops...

Does anyone have a view on the stiffness of these bars? Are they as stiff as most carbon bars? No issues with the 26mm clamp interface on this front? Seller got back to me happy to ship to Dublin.
  • They seem very stiff from trying to flex/twist/snap them.

And im strong, really strong, like a bear, but friendlier.

    grrrr

Like a true cheapskate I tried to re-use my specialized phat tape on the new bars last night. Needless to say it looked like a dogs dinner - way too thick for the curves on these bars!

Having seen Nap's efforts I will be purchasing some fizik tape. Only question remaining, black or white tape? A new toupe saddle is on the horizon so need to get this one right..............

Are these bars definetly 26.0 ?
Just looked at an older 3TTT stem and it's 25.8 and that's not gonna fit is it ? (Particularly with the gentle clamp a carbon bar requires)
Did they make 2 sizes before oversize came along ?
Seems a bit mad if they did.

I really want to agree, but not sure it will look to clever on my Ribble Sportive frame - mostly red & black with very little white

Therefore, it's begging for a little white touch.

    Fit my 26.0 stem fine.
