Thinking about getting them from here

Well i've got the M4's up front on 183mm floating rotors and braided hoses, works for me and looks a bit bling, mind you they don't do that tangerine orange theme you have got going on on the back
I had normal hoses before and think the braided to give better feel, mind you they are a little tricky to shorten.
I got mine from Merlin, about the same price as CRC but CRC did not have them in stock when I wanted them

a floating rotor is a outer rotor bolted on to a smaller rotor that bolts to your wheel
the idea is for better heat distibution

I'd kill for those Roo.....it would be just the job....but I'd have to get adaptors, coz my hubs are centre lock, not bolted :(

    I got mine from http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/13/tm4/hope-tech-m4-brake.html

The braided hoses look smarter but are slightly thicker, The floating rotors again look alot more bling, but also are meant to cool quicker and improve performance. The closest match for your frame though would be gold i guess.

As for the brackets, it will depend on what size rotors you want and how your brakes are mounted to your forks and frame, with my fox's it was STD POST MOUNT TO POST MOUNT 183mm and IS REAR TO POST MOUNT 183mm, Theres a diagram of the various mounts on that site linked above.

I also got the hope shifter mount clamp(sram) so the its just one clamp on the bars.

I love the control i get with these brakes but they will also stop you dead...or throw you off if needs be :)
  • cheers i'll have a good look later

Have a look at the set-up videos on the hope website, the bits about getting them centered etc as apparently if you don't take the time and do it right they can squeal like pigs and not perform as well. Follow the bedding in instructions too, bit of a drag but I'm well chuffed with mine.

As for the peaks ride, I'm pretty flexible so will go with the majority :)

Just an alternative idea for the Peak District route.

Why not start from Hope (Breakfast in the Woodbine?) up the Roman Road and follow the existing route to Fairholmes, Tea and Cake at Fairholmes, carry on up Whinstone Lea Tor and down to Ladybower Inn for late lunch, up the back of Win Hill and down Hope Brink to Aston and return to Hope for more Tea and Cake at the Woodbine Cafe.

Thats a long ride! the last time I did that route, with a bunch of whippets, we set out at 10.00am and finished about 4.00pm and only stopped for 15 minutes at Fairholmes and 1 hour at the pub

Once the date is decided i'll make my decision about being able to come but to be honest marital harmony and a large garden (jungle) may overide more than one full weekend day out per month.

Mind you if any one is able to meet midweek then i'm up for it?

That sounds like a big route but to be honest there are a multitude of routes that you can put together in that area, or even going over towards Hollins Cross, Mam Tor, Jacobs Ladder........

I'm also in the position of having to be careful how many days out I can get away with per month and weekdays depend on our lass having a day off work so while the theory is exciting and there are MANY routes in the Peak District that I would like to have a bash at, I'll be lucky to get one day out a month in addition to the Slow Rides we already have planned.
