actually i decided to get things i would get for the FR build for this bike. so i;ll be buying: saint cranks, e13 ring, sunline stem, nukeproof bars, saint rear mech, and u turn lyriks0
-
update:
saint cranks and blackspire epic downhill alloy 36t black chainring,
shall test them out tommorow at llandegla fr track
next upgrades:
saint rear mech + new gear cables.
then some new pedals, probably superstar nano tech or nukeproof as the thread that preloads the bearings is kinda screwed so the pedal wobbles a bit.
then some new forks
and then new bars and stem0 -

yeah, mine's still not how i want it! needs some uturn lyriks0 -
just weighed the bike using the weigh your self then with teh bike and take away the difference, and i know it's not accurate but it weighs in at approx. 33lbs. not bad tbh. with new forks, new bars, new stem, new pedals, new seat, new seatpost, i reckon it could get to 31/32 lbs. then when it gets a respray and a rebuild sometime next year, it should come to under 30lbs0
-
Saint cranks are a real piece of work. I can get flex out of most cranks but nothing out of the Saints and they're not even that heavy. Get some crank skins though as they rub quite easily.
Does the rear mech give a nice snappy change?0 -
amazing aren't they .
i don't know tbh as mine have rubbed the tiniest bit even with nike 6.0s which are quite wide. so i'll leave it for now. and yeah the mech is awesome, really smooth, super quick shifting0 -
update. just got the new pedals, kona wah wah, £30 . and also before that i got a sdg aliso saddle, superstar simple seatpost and as i wrote off my ex721 rim, the bike shop when i was on experiance, gave me a mavic en521 rim so it's all good
not much will change now. will be getting a new cassette and chain soon, change oil and valves in my forks, and new tyres. but that will probably be it until i get a new frame, but don't worry, i'm keeping the pha5e!

how on earth did you right off a 721 rim?I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0

yay update time!! not much changed as i had to buy other stuff and i'm trying to save up for a new frame and forks next year and it's not going to be cheap!
anyway i used my tyres for about a year so i got some high roller 2s. they seem very good so far. i also got a full outer gear cable because they are better! about a month ago i change the oil in the forks and took them completly apart. all seems pretty good. should last until next year anyway.
i have another dh race this weekend. same place as in may but more of a fun event. should be good!

after i had a crash i had to get new forks, bars, rotor and also got a hope head doctor and lizard skins bar plugs.
forks are 2006 marzocchi 66 RC2X, plush and the longer travel makes the bike a bit slacker which i like. similar weight to my old forks as well.
i got some chromag bars which cut down to 760mm. they're lower, wider and nicer than the old ones, not cheap though!

yes, i will be getting a new frame in april/may. i'm lookign at the ns soda fr atm0 -
Haha wow, must have been pretty big. Bend the steerer?
And nice, I really fancy an NS soda. Looks like a bottlerocket, before transition made them look all girly and rubbish.0 -
got a shimano xt m785 brake now. it's awesome! very powerful and i love the feel. the short lever is weird at first but very nice when you get used to it. i'll be getting a back one in a few weeks

they do look very very nice, rose have them mega cheap, like £65 each minus rotors, which they have cheap too, not available for 2 weeks tho, but at that price i'm tempted, my hopes are abit wanting in the power stakes, even if they are unbelievably bling, the black xt's look sweeet tho 8)0

yep, £130 for the pair, 4 week wait though, although seeing as the mojo is away til feb now, im in no rush for them the slx one look quite decent too if im honest, whether the £30 extra on rose for the xt is worth i'll have to find out!!0 -

Jay, what does the SS seatpost weigh and is it tapered nearer the saddle clamp?
The one on my Canyon is tapered so I can't drop it all the way grr.0 -

ive got my heart pretty much set, not a fan of the old style k18/24/mega brakes either tbh, lever shape isnt great for me. i tried the xt's just before crimbo in my lbs, chuffing nice brakes and mega power all things considered, and they look the shizz in black, if i get them the xt's will go on the maxlight first, just to try them out, then i'll probably move themto the mojo after the first ride i imagine0 -
Fair enough, I really like my megas, but whatever works for you0
