Lawman: um i have neither- £6 a week paper round, and parents who wouldn't even lend me a tenner if i was going to pay them back the next week  just gonna save up for about 4 years to complete my build, or just for two, and buy a pitch, then upgrade the hell out of it and and up with a completely new bike, so it would have been cheaper to build one- so i think i'll just build from the frame up, probably a heckler. i'm gonna start saving now, with the £20 i'm getting for my forks- not getting new pedals or saddle- no more upgrading for my rockrider now.

jpstar: The screws weren't even in them - still couldn't do it though
eventually managed to do it with washing up liquid, a hammer and a block of wood. Really pleased with them.

Quality build mate, glad to see you're enjoying it and glad to see a cheaper bike is as good as the more expernsive equivalent! Those bombholes are fantastic too, there's one by me in Shirley Hills, it is absolutely vast - but scares me sh*tless in the dark.

Good luck with that Pitch build, I wouldn't have the staying power! :)

Thanks 335d. It wasn't that cheap though- spent about £650 on it, however seeing some of the overpriced cr*p you can get for that price (http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/product/119057.html), i'm really pleased with my bike.

no, i am, because i can spell ambitious.
  • if we are getting into arguments about teens with the most bikes then i win, i'm 17 and have 3, a Gary fisher Big Sur, Hewitt team frame built up with DA/Ultegra 9 speed and a Carrera Virtuoso that i ride 20 miles a day on to and from college.

    pictures to follow...
Carbon fibre, it's all nonsense. Drink beer. Ride a steel bike. Don't be a ponce.

dear lord kids these days are dis-illusioned. when i was your age   i wanted a commencal meta, was gonna get a job and build it up 2 years later and im still on my maxlight. dont get your hopes built too high because the likely hood you will end up disappointed, yer its nice to dream, but 9 times out 10 they will just be a dream for a good while. most people who work full time havent got the dosh to spill on a three grand+ bike, so i know its overly ambitious to aim that high. we all have pretty awesome bikes for teenagers, well im nearly not a teenager, but from the sounds of it all you guys will be more than pleased with something like a pitch, so get saving

My friend (who is also 13) has an orange crush, which is basically a pitch with rear sus - so you can getdream bikes when your just a teenager. And my other 13 year old friend has this: http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12683622 which is a pretty awesome bike too, so just cos we're young doesn't mean we can't get good bikes.

not sayin you cant! im just saying an "expensive bike" like the nomad you said you wanted and josh's 456 ti are maybe abit too expensive at this stage. trust me i work in my LBS and cant afford any of those bikes even with my massive discount

the sunday elite has single crown forks with 180mm tavel making it more of a freeride bike than the WC and team

pay isnt the best tbh, and jobs dont come around often, i only got mine cos i knew the guys previously before the shop opened. and tbh its very quiet this time of year and is rather broing when there are no new bikes build up. but the discount is good :D
