I am somewhat confused by cargo shorts on the bike. I dont like putting load of stuff in back pockets of jersey, would rather have something on the bike to carry things (bottle cage pouch for tools/pump, tribag for phone/snacks, saddle bag for extras on occasion etc). I do use back pockets for overflow but only sparingly.

But I really dont see what the advantage is to putting your stuff in pockets on your thighs compared to back pockets? Why would this be better? Surely your back makes more sense than a constantly moving part of your body? Or is it just so that when you cant fit everything in your pockets you can add more space on top?

You'd have to be involved in a rather unusual accident for your nuts to appear in the pocket of your shorts.

Cyclesugery have got all their locks on sale but there's still an extra 20% off for today with the 'lockitup' code just got this gold rated kryptonite for £23.

Halfords have price matched Wiggle on the Tacx Flux S.

Obviously British Cycling members should be able to get another 10% off with click and collect.

Edit 18 July: it seems that Wiggle have sold out of the Tacx Flux S, so Halfords now have it at full price.

I'm really confused about that particular model. Some places state it's gold rated, but a comment in wiggle still states it's silver. This model, which is very similar (and which I own), is also rated 6/10 by the manufacturer, but sold secure silver.

EDIT: The "new U", depicted in cycle surgery link, is rated gold according to Kryptonite, but the model name on cycle surgery corresponds to a silver-rated lock.

Yes this one is the newer version the old one is silver the new one is gold. I think its at the bottom end of the gold though as its rated 6/10 on their scale, it won't be as good as Abus ones I have but it will make a good secondary lock.

cargo bibs are great if you dont want to wear a cycling jersey.

so i go to the gym before work, cycle there in normal shorts/tech tee. train. put on bibs, ride to work and then home in the evening in bibs.

i dont use a backpack, i use a pannier bag so had nowhere to put my work pass/keys/phone etc. so with the cargo bibs i can just whack stuff in there. i also have a top tube bag which is quite useful.

those bibs from china just seem very thin and lightweight and dont fit me properly. for commuting its fine. i wouldnt use them for anything more than that though

Altura Night Vision Thermo LS Jersey Yellow - £9.75.

I bagged a couple in Small, as I thought they would make good commuting jerseys for next year.
BUT they are HUGE, I would say a generous Medium, and a fitted large, so thought could be rather bargainous for a lot of you out there :D
Mine are winging their way back to Amazon as I type.

Yes, I need the XXL one; I've got one from my lbs and would love another 4 or 5.

Lidl have got SIS stuff in at the moment. I bought one of the cycling packs for £8.99, seemed a reasonable price for 11 gels+some other stuff. Expiry date is June next year.

    Good value!
If you haven't had them before, don't have too many and definitely don't try them for first time at sportive:)

@UE - are even their bibs decent, I would have thought a jersey you can make fit properly, but you can't overly cheapskate on the chamois pad without it being noticable?

    I've only tried:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3270174 ... 4c4dnLgMxT

But liked them enough to buy a second pair. The pad is pretty good. In fact, they're my shorts of choice for both commuting and sportives. They do have slightly pricier ones which have a different pad which they recommend for longer rides, but I'm happy enough with the lower end ones*. Fit well and look good even after a year of commuting. What more do you want for under £20?

Stick with the Spexcell official store on AliExpress, though - even they get faked on there.

La Passione have 25% off a small portion of their kit. HOTSUMMER is the code.

    https://www.lapassione.cc/collections/hotsummer-promo

Drops the stonking classic shorts down to around £65 - these are probably what I am going to wear for ride London, utilising a new pair from my stock cupboard.

*They also have some very strange checked gloves if that floats your boat.

Ironic, they don't have their Lightweight mesh jersey in the hot summer deal!

A big fan of mine in these conditions.

Have you tried eBay, NOS appears on there roughly once a week depending on your size, normally selling for £20-£40.
