Those Rapha pro team bibs are a bargain. However, I must say at this moment in time I think the Red and White bibs are better ( I own both).

Love the pad in the Redwhites (I have the slimmer race variant which isn't that slim actually).
Got them at a great price in the Christmas sale.

Can someone post up the missing links?

Their website is a bit flaky, took me ages to get them to fix the pink brevet lightweight jersey page so you could actually buy it.

Cheapest Pave jacket in the best colourway ever!

    https://www.probikekit.co.uk/sports-clothing/castelli-pave-jacket-photo-print/11152722.html

£80.44, but the code CLOTHSS knocks that down to £68.42, and in theory going through TCB lops another 2% off, so something like £67!

I have a pair of the pro team version 1 both regular and long leg, both medium. The LP ones are probably marginally less comfy but i *think* longer than the long leg PT shorts. Certainly the same length at a minimum.

    In that case......

Interested to hear if there is a method to finding these hidden links though........

Or is it just clever marketing I wonder.

So I am on the far right in M, regular leg. Chap in the middle is a large, regular leg (I think).

Here is me in medium, but long leg.

When I saw the first pic, I was the first to comment that they look like hot pants.

Mine have arrived, they are L - the length is fine on my stumpy pins. Certainly not hotpanty in any way, though I expect they might ride up a bit on the bike.

I am tempted to go for an L. M fits fine even the long leg ones could be longer. Can always return, I guess.

Ordered the L to replace my XL.

I really like these shorts, but they felt slightly big.

I need some dirt cheap commuting shorts but do these really start at size Medium? Why? Anyone tried them?

Also, what's the idea of keeping sharp metal near your groin (key pocket)......

Been a while since I have bought any Lidl and Aldi gear, but when I last did, a small was more like a medium or large in more traditional brands, if you see where I am coming from.

If you are after cheap shorts, I would be more inclined to have a look at Planet X (Their 365 shorts are stunning vfm, and on occasion can be had for £18) for some, or consider Decathlon, who also have a great reputation - never tried them myself, but have heard good things about Tenn products, available on Amazon for one.
Primal also have some huge reductions on occasion, but no personal experience myself.

As a "rather larger" lad, I normally need the XXL stuff or bigger , but the XL in lidl works fine for me, but aldi is now a squeeze; they are sized for the "average leisure cyclist", not the racing snake..
I've only got Aldi and Lidl shorts, and I find them more than comfortable for an hour each way commute, and at this price, can easily afford to have 5 pairs, one for each day of the week. I wear the shorts with a set of decathlon baggies 500 mtb over the top, so effectively using these as a liner. Each pair has easily done 1000km, and I've only had one seam split, which I've since repaired.

Yes, I could well have been more comfortable in other shorts, but I've not felt the need to try. Would they survive a 4 hour trip? I honeslty couldn't tell you, longest single trip I've done is 1:45, and I wasn't uncomfortable.

Found the decathlon ones (cheaper ones) seem to have massive pads and felt very uncomfortable. May have resolved itself whilst wearing, but at that price I'd rather put it towards a pair i know will be comfortable.

Ah fair enough, that's good to know - planning to try some of their apparently good value kids clothes for my daughter who has just got into cycling, they have shorts from 4.99.

With my dimensions, the Decathlon 500 bibs are not nice. It's what you said: the pad is too big and not that comfy. Possibly aimed at very leisurely, less fit (if that's possible!) people. The 900 series (w/ the blue pad) work pretty well and the material and straps are nicer. However, those are already £45, and dhb blok can be had cheaper than that.

Whatever, my Castelli Omloop are effin' great for the typical Scottish summer (i.e. not yesterday)

    My Pro Team shorts arrived!

I ordered two sizes both arrived today. Both shorts are labelled Pro Team but they are totally different!

One is black and cream with cream logo and have a pad with zig zag stitching with perforations.

The other is black and white with a Rapha branded pad and multi line parallel stitching with all black logos.

One is made in Italy the other in Portugal. Both fit the same despite a size difference and the only difference I can see is in the leg width at the knee.

    Weird!

Also the pad looks really basic for a £200 pair of shorts! Is this normal?

Mine are black and black, made in Portugal, rapha pad with parallel. Definitely tighter than the xl were. I’d not worry about the aesthetics of the pad. It is excellent

Does pad size vary greatly depending on size?

I didn't think so, that was the upgrade for the PT II? Re-reading this though I'm not sure now as it's just the density that was the same? I could swear when I got Small and XSmall to try though they both had the same size pad which I thought was a bit rubbish:

"The pad changes in thickness according to your size (previously, one size pad was used in all bib shorts), ensuring a superior fit."

Isn't the perforated pad the lightweight version?

FWIW I ordered the Rapha shorts in M and L. I'm 6'3" 75kg and wear size L in La Passione classic bibs. The Rapha shorts are black/black made in Portugal. The legs are shorter than La Passione, but the bib straps are way too tight for me, even in riding position. I'm returning them and will give XL a try and maybe the leg length is a bit better. I can provide more specific measurements when I get them.
