That's been our experience of Aldi lights. The ones from 2 years ago (comet rip offs) were slightly more reliable than last years nebula rip offs.
So far they've worked out as expensive as buying the moon original versions for us because we never took the failed ones back just used them up. My partner and I bought a set each of the nebula. I bought spares. Right now we have one front and one rear working out of three sets. There are no working comets left but I only bought one set plus one spare rear. The issues weren't the batteries more that the charging socket cover fell off and they got water in them. I just couldn't be bothered recovering them.
Personal experience means I'll only treat them as one season disposable. I also prefer to have a better brand front and rear that I can trust.
All our cateye lights and my partner's moon light are just in another league of performance and reliability. They charge quicker, the charge lasts longer, the batteries last for me than a year before they start to hold less and less charge and the charging indicator actually works on them. Add in that more than one Aldi clone got taken back because it just would not charge at all.0 -

My comet clones are going strong and get lots of use. They were an exchange for my DOA nebula clone.
My proper comet died after about 10 months, so I’d rather buy a couple of sets of Aldi lights.0 -
Oooh! I guess I'll dig out my dead nebula clones out they must be working afterall. Seriously they are too unreliable for my liking. You found them good? Great! I don't for several reasons ranging from reliability of the battery to quality (charging socket covers aren't fixed in well on a few) to charging indicator not working as the manual describes.
Put it this way, I'd rather have a light last trouble free for 4 years or more with good charging of the battery such that you are confident of using them. For example regular charging schedule makes a difference. For example I charge my lights up every 2 days to be sure they don't run out. That's good enough for the nebula clone but occasionally it runs out of charge sooner. It possibly is because if an issue with charging indicator or faulty charging of the battery. I always have 2 lights front and rear but the front lights are both Aldi. If I can't trust them I'm having to change more often.0 -
This came up on the Singletrack forum this morning.
I've had one since commute v1.0 in 2009, since replaced with a Caradice SQR but still a good bag for those that travel light.

Avoid these clowns like the plague. The 2 recent potential good deals I ordered never materialised. Quick enough to take your money though and hang on to it for a while afterwards.0 -
On the face of it, a price bargain, Halfords are doing 5 of their own tubes for £10.
But are they any good?
Do they invoke their own gravity field due to their weight over say a Schwalbe tube for same tyre size?================

Nice, looks decent - you can also buy it direct from Leisure Lakes, which I would imagine, perhaps incorrectly, works out marginally better for them profit wise:

Bought one last week when my MacroDuo gave up on me and paid £18 from Cycle Republic and used it the same day after charging it in work and it fits straight on the Lezyne adjustable helmet mount.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

Assuming it's got the same build as the Lezyne, this guide covers what you need, I used it to change the battery in my Macro duo freebie successfully,
After the first time removing the battery, I found I could press it out with thumb pressure. Getting the rubber on/off button back in is the most difficult, and that's not hard to do, just make sure it's lined up properly. As a side note, I had no water leaking problems after doing this

winter tyres for those with "minimal clearances"..less than £21 delivered for a pair..apparently they have poor relative rolling resistance..i haven't noticed this cos i'm slow this time of year..like molasses in wintertime (from the greatest western ever made)
Had a gabba 3 for £75..flogged my original gabba last year for £45 so not bad..digressing a little..why are the gabba's priced so differently...£75 for surf blue..£142.50 for red in the same size xxl ?
