Has anyone seen any good deals anywhere on Sram eTap HRD Flat Mount groupsets?

I've been holding out for some Black Friday deals and the best at the moment seems to be Wiggle at £1397 and 4% cashback through Topcashback but I was hoping it might drop a bit lower somewhere.

If anyone's in the market for a new bike then there's a great deal on the Focus Paralane eTap Disc at Sigma Sport at the moment. Currently £3699, reduced from £5699.

I'm half tempted to get the Focus rather than getting an eTap groupset and fitting it to my current bike!

Some decent discounts here. Bit of a mixed bag of stuff but some of the Spokesman gear looks good value. Have taken a punt on some of the bib shorts as a Christmas present for someone (unless they are so nice that I'm forced to keep them for myself)

Thanks for posting! Some of the 7Mesh Windstopper jerseys are amazing value. Have ordered a few bits.

My pick would be this https://www.cyclesurgery.com/p/7-mesh-men-s-synergy-jersey-N1224583.html?colour=122

I have no doubt it is top quality, but it's just too grey for me :-(

Apologies if that is classed as being greyist.

*I do like Anthracite\Tungsten cars if that helps.

Just got refunded for the large one I bought. All out of stock.

  • That's interesting, this in the Black Friday sale was £27 yesterday but now £36:

    PlanetX style "dynamic" pricing?
  • Does Cycle Republic offer the same 10% British Cycling membership discount as Halfords?

CR are selling the Elite Direto a little cheaper than Halfords before discounts, £700 vs £720.

Starting to seriously think about a smart trainer, given I grown to love hill climbing this year, I'm thinking the Direto might be "the one" because of its 14% gradient replication.

It sounds like it might also come supplied with a 142x12mm axle to fit my Cube, without spending ~£30 on one as a separate from say Amazon. Can anyone confirm?

Is a front wheel riser block needed with the Direto using 700c wheels, or it is fine without?

  • Had direto for a week or so coming from vortex smart. Halfords now selling for 648 (with bc). I paid 675 so might see if they'll refund difference.
The turbo itself is pretty good. Possibly too accurate. I liked the perfect lines i overlaid on trainerroad with vortex. Direto is bit all over the place (have heard the same about kickr, neo, drivo) as it's so accurate. I need to play with power smoothing i think (currently 3 sec ave).
The advantage is that I now know the power I train at is the power I can race at. The disadvantage is that it's less i could do on the vortex!!

Yes - I did exactly this to buy a smart trainer last week. Was a standalone Cycle Republic (as opposed to one within a larger Halfords store).

I've just been refunded for the small i ordered. Why can't these companies get their stock system to work properly :(

Still have a medium coming though which I'm 90% sure will be too big. If anyone has a small and wants to swap for a larger size, let me know....

I got an email this morning confirming that my large (and a large corsa softshell) are on their way :)

Just for sizing reference for you guys, I've already got a large and I'm a fairly lean 6'2" and 80kg. I tried the medium before I bought the large (this was last year) and I found it a bit restrictively tight

Well, I'm glad that I didn't bother with trying to order either of these in large then, as much as I wanted them :(

Leaning towards this for a new road bike unless a great deal pops up this week. But heavy at 9.1kg I think, mainly down to wheelset?

Any big cons I'm missing, or other good options? Need something 58 or 60cm.

    https://www.rutlandcycling.com/bikes/ro ... rey_373882

Now £1000, same as last year's main EOL price, only a few like me got a £100 off promo code when there were literally a few left.

The 58cm works for me, I'm 5'10" with ~32.5" cycling inseam (big torso and short legs for height).

Just pulled the trigger on one of these. They charge a 11% surcharge on sale bikes through cyclesheme, but even at 1110 it's a steal for carbon, 105 and hydros...

Out of interest, did you guys have your cyclescheme vouchers poised and ready to go, as in had you sourced them a while before, and had just been waiting for a good deal to crop up?

My scheme only opens in May for a 4 weeks, so I am contemplating getting a voucher, they can start taking the payments immediately, but that I then hang on for a good deal - my options seem to be Halfords, Tredz or Sigma - I don't have the wide range of options you guys do.

Spokesman bibs turned up from Cycle Surgery. Absolutely lovely quality, seem very similar to my favourite Pactimos. A steal at 35 quid down from 140. Just kicking myself I didn't get 2 pairs as these ones are for someone else as a Christmas present.

Sadly my £29 Spokesman "Gabba" with arm-warmers (RRP £130) was too big, as was the £27 Mavic convertible jacket (RRP £140). Really didn't need either though and was just buying for the sake of it. Not sure how I'm going to cope with tomorrow's sales.

I've just got the Decathlon version, they do a wide range of sizes. 60ish quid as well so substantially cheaper than the Castelli alternative but I don't know about quality yet. They have reasonable reviews though.
