Bugger, was too busy working to order a winter jacket today (been meaning to do it all week). This might force my hand to go to Evans instead as they also have the jackets I was interested in for similar money, but think I have the remainder if an old gift code to redeem. Will probably still be more expensive (and no free returns )
Will check out Merlin too...Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0 -

Hope you're right (have too many jackets anyway). Still tempted by a Fiandre Extreme (waterproof polartec) or the Lusso Aqua repel extreme though. I got one this time last year but before I got a chance to wear it I was knocked off my bike and didnt ride again until summer, then by the time winter came around I had put on weight and now need to lose some before I can wear it as its too small...! And cant send it back. I fully intend losing that weight and wearing it one day.
The material is quite different to anything else.
I was sold by this review: http://road.cc/content/review/172677-sp ... ell-jacket
From what I read the pockets dividers come unglued at the back though...0 -

Stupid thing is I bought a Fiandre Extreme in large last year but wasn't happy with the fit so returned (didn't see them again at a "decent" price until now). Bought a Castelli Pave rain shell in a new version of Event fabric instead and it's been great whenever I've used it. Bought for a great discounted price too, so value-wise it's right up there. So I just don't need the Fiandre Extreme, only it promises to cover more bases, ie cold and dry, as well as damp or raining. Love the fire/anthracite colourway too....Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

Same problem here. Have ended up with a Rapha Pro Team Training jacket and a Castelli Alpha jersey in the last fortnight for the very same reason.0 -

Then i came across this the other day, the "Castelli Sidi Dino 3 Long Sleeve Cycling Jacket"
Its apparently the same as the "Castelli Gabba" Long Sleeve Jacket and its at a great price.
I ordered it and wore it for the first time today, its fantastic, best bit of clothing kit i got.

If the unit does what you want it to do (I assume maps) and you're happy then yes
I do hope your GSC-10 Speed/cadence sensor lasts more than 12 months though... I went through 3 in a year (all warranty replaced) where either the speed or cadence simply stopped working (demonstrably the small magnetic switch failed in each case rather than the magnet becoming misaligned).
I also found the CatEye magnet to be more securely attached to the spoke (it screws down rather than the Garmin one that clips on)0 -

I'm still on my,original GSC-10 sensor from a bundle with 800 edge ( Wiggle said they advertised it at the wrong price , pulled it and tried not to send me the sensor) I don't need the 810 , it is still a bargain at that price. I've changed the battery in the sensor and had some issues with the hrm strap, another change of battery and a polar strap as back up and it's working fine. Also had a glitch with the Garmin when I left it on charge over night and my computer downloaded files to and which filled it up. Drove me nuts for a couple of weeks until I found the file and cleared it out. Fingers crossed that I haven't jinxed it.0 -

And it is on the foul weather bike so it is not as if it is pampered. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Bizarre isn't it. I was worried when I bought a GSC10 in sometime around 2008, and it hasn't ever missed a beat.
Mine is also on my winter bike, so gets covered in road crap, rain, and all sorts, and has also served time on the turbo with no ill effects, other than needing the battery changed, but that seems to last for ever.
It's not even like I clean it regularly.
I guess there must be some variations in how they are made perhaps, OR maybe the bikes they are being fitted to means that in some cases the devices are being stretched due to the shape of the rear stay or something?
Grasping at straws, but wondering if 3 failing on one bike might lead to that conclusion.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

I think they fail when moisture gets in to the reed at the end of the long arm. Usually they start acting a bit funny on damp/rainy days only, but OK when they dry out. Then the process leaves deposits which affect the movmement of the reed on dry days too after a while. I had it happen after a couple of years to one. I bought a replacement but havent bothered fitting it yet because I never look at cadence and the speed/distance from the GPS is good enough to I just havent got around to it - I will one day...0
-
I've never bothered with a cadence / speed sensor, so I can just slap the Garmin on whichever bike the weather dictates and go. I'm not really interested in speed any more, and I've never wanted to know how fast my legs are whirring. I do like to record distance, I'm curious to see what the temperature was doing, and I'm morbidly fascinated by heart rate. The Garmin + HRM does all that.0
