Still, after a stylish dismount I've knackered my toe enough that I doubt I'll be out for a couple of weeks but will see how it goes. Think I need to get decent shoes that are re-enforced in the toe area.

Five Tens seem to have reinforced toes, or at least very tough leather.

Anyone up for something slowish on Sunday, I'm finally going to be on my Enduro so there will probably be lots of fiddling with the rear shock and stuff, and the brakes are useless at the moment too.

It's meant to be dry too :D

Popstar is back from Scotland trip and tells the story to crowd. Actually, didn't ride that much at all. Just managed to ride Laggan Wolftrax(page57-) and XC red at Kirroughtree. Few pictures will follow, but didnt' film any movies as had to try and stay alive on some of Black graded trails. Riding alone didn't add too much of balls of steel but managed to flow quite easily in rock gardens (thanks to Jedi skillz). Whites level Black run does look like a fluffy puppy compared to Laggan's black trails, the experience was immense. Kirroughtree XC wasn't worth it unfortunately. Think doing Black graded trail there is a must next time.

You did not like Kiroughtree ????????

Surprised its the probably the best epic ride that i have ever done at a trail centre( although we did the black). Itwas awesome..... Why did you not like it ?

The toe on either the impacts or the karvers has loads of rubber around it and stops that kind of injury....they are also the best thing i have every bought for my bike in terms of performance versus cost. :D

Richard I did ride Kirroughtree Red only, as by the time I finally drove there it was allready 17.00 had only couple of hours to ride. Riding alone epic Black graded trail in the dark didn't appeal to me. So had to do with Red.
It kind of reminded me Cwmcarn's Twrch trail but worse, all the time up'n'down ... Twrch at least punishes you with climb then mad descent. And Kirrie's red trail so heavily reinforced with little stones, you just can't carve there.

The next day it was heavy rain. Even my car started to play up, couldn't start it ... but thats another -Beer story.

Looks as if this weekend there is Earl's Court bike exhibition ... must pay a visit.

I agree, probably because they were the cheapest thing I've ever bought for my bike :D

I was looking at the Freerider for style, but after busting up my toe with my ("frankly I was asking for trouble") cheap trainers, I think your suggestions are a must. Chunky shoes but more sensible.

Still not sure quite what I did to the thing. Whether it was crushed or snapped back or something. Must have got caught in the bike somehow but all happened so fast. Didn't seem so bad at the time.

Just embarrassing it was on such a simple trail and slow speed. Rider error. Brief hesitation on wet root and wrong line.

Once the foot swelling has gone I'll order some :D.

Just so you know may mate just got a pair of the Freerider ones after having some of the Impacts, basically he says that they look good but are no where near as sticky or safe as the imapcts he had.......even if the impacts do look a bit odd and possibly as if you have some kind of problem :D

No way .... the forks look pants :D Although it might come in handy for getting rid of pesky ramblers .............. or trail building when you need to clear through a load of bushes.... :D

Hey guys, seems like ages since I've been on here, lots of work and uni! Looks like I've sorted my both now so I'm only working or at uni 5 days a week. This leaves me time to cycle! Got anything planned for Sunday? Itching to get out! Hope you are all well

It was really wet on the Surrey Hills Saturday, not hugely muddy, but tonnes of standing water, and anywhere the logging vehicles had been was a state! Looks like the end of the week may be drier, so hopefully this weekend will be alright.

+1 for Sunday morning. Not sure how many riders will show up, but suppose will do 3 general hills with tourist trails ( Pitch-Holmbury-Leith ) . Or there are people crying out for some Gnarl ? 10.00 sounds good to me, will fit tonnes of riding hours in a day.

I'm meant to be out on Saturday, but if that falls through I may come along, I like the sound of a more XC style ride, not sure I'm one for 'gnarl' :-)

Saturday is a good day for Earls's Court? Could team up with some beers and plenty of shopping bags. I really need to try on some POC elbow guards + and a full facer. Shame Gregsd isn't around these days, at least he is the one who would heat Njee up on XC climbs. Don't think Plaisir got any French mountains left in his legs.
I usually push up ma'bike these days, so unfit for miraculous reasons. Shame DKenny is out of action, at least he could be the one I overtake.

SH is unlikely for me at the moment, though starting to get slight movement in my toe now which is a positive sign (i.e. haven't bust ligaments or whatnot). Just big swollen black & blue. Nice :D.

Annoying as even a week off and it takes me several weeks to get fitness back (what little I had).

I may just need a can of MTFU to sort me out.

As for the bike show. Maybe if I'm able to walk about a bit quicker. Though need to justify the cost of getting into town. Any free tickets about or is it free anyway?

Tentative +1 for 10am Sun... After many many tweaks and adjustments to handlebar angle, brake positions, lever angle, grip adjustments and finally replacement, I think I finally have the cockpit dialled, looking forward to full blast.

Meh, I'm happy to plod up the hills and try and keep up with you chaps on the way down, hopefully not embarrass myself with 100mm of travel, SPDs and a saddle up to my armpits!

But most of Surrey Hills tourist trails are pedally, I only can see myself begging for mercy. Don't think rad riders would attend this weekend, unless of course Cooldad thrashes all on climbs.

I KNEED some KNARL to test the Enduro

Pedally + 145mm at the front and around 160mm+ at the back equals slow on anything not downwards.

You might want to bring full facer for that. I would, but don't have enough of monies to buy elbow pads and FF. Surely you did ride that drop at Walking bottom car park? Not the one from -Saint branches- trail but the opposite with options of chicken run ...
