Yeah, that's my plan, but knowing me I'll put it off for the next 5 years :D.

Basically was thinking of a hardtail for pottering around flatter stuff, general XC, places like Swinley, tow paths and the like, maybe a spot of commuting. Then thought I could build one, take components off the GT and use it as an excuse to upgrade bits on the GT (forks and brakes mainly), and learn a few things on the way.

No idea where to start though. Pick a frame I guess :D.

I KNEED some KNARL to test the Enduro

Pedally + 145mm at the front and around 160mm+ at the back equals slow on anything not downwards.

Mangrove!! There's unfinished business with a tree.

The bike's feeling good and I gotta stop drinking so I'll be out on Sunday. Where we thinking?

Me and Popstar had a good little spin earlier, it's not too bad up there, not much mud, just a bit of standing water, which should've drained off nicely by Sunday!

It was 1pm somewhere, I think Popstar said but it's too late to work out what he's saying.
I managed to get down that off-camber bit last time out :D

Conditions round there a couple of weeks back weren't fun. Not soggy, but slight moist soil meant disconcerting springy conditions that can (and did) throw people off for no good reason, and the steep bit was more loose than ever. Not that I made it down by any means other than sliding on my feet (again). Just can't get the confidence up to attack it.

Get in there!!! I'd imagine the conditions aren't great but that's what makes us WARRIORS!!! (part-time in my case)

1pm start's do-able, will keep an eye out for where

The 1pm start was for the ride today, think 10am at Peaslake is the plan for Sunday.

Yep, Sunday 10am start at Walking Bottom (Peaslake). The route will be decided by all riders who wil show up. It would be either Pitch-Holmbury- ? or Holmbury-Leith-Redhill-Leith-Holmbury (gnarlier version).

I had a wake up call by racing snake Njee, my legs are lazy not only on climbs but even on flat trails it seems. Thel33ter you will be served plenty on XC climbs, - trust me.

Take one way or the other, we will finish our ride with Barry Knows Best**.

    Hey all,

I'm meeting popstar tomm for the Earls Court Cycle show. We'll be meeting for 12 at Earls court station so if anyone else wants to come down that would be cool.

I seem to come off on that as much as in real life :D

Borderline possibility of foot being rideable Sunday, but haven't got shoes sorted yet and don't want to use the scruffy trainers now. Probably still advisable to give it a rest this weekend, but I know I'm going to be missing a good one, especially with the great weather!

Suppose I could go up to Earls Court to do some shopping though.

Well, to have some beers and chit-chat at Earls Court isn't bad idea. Jedi, I take it that you have to bring your own beers? Shame they don't sell MTB stuff, but still interesting to see what's on offer for trade, and I thought you could do some shopping :? .

Finally get to see the new beast. We could put a big pillow around your favourite tree.

Last time out I chickened out (as usual) almost killed myself trying to slide down.

Your bike seems to make a habit of trying to kill people. Should call it Christine.

Hmm, bike show costs £15, and it'll cost me another £15 to get in on the train. No idea how easy it is to drive there, and do they charge for parking? Prefer the idea of train and a few beers though. Surely there must be some freebie tickets about?

    Map of who's there: http://www.cycleshow.co.uk/files/cycle_ ... _4_oct.pdf

Looks like the MTB section is tucked away on the right.

Get the train, ideas about driving on M4 aren't sexy. Train would work out faster cheaper and trouble free. I booked online £12+£1booking fee, just about right saving on half pint.

The nearest parking slot would be at Tesco, but that would kill off your driving adventure by a long walk from there to reach Earls court. Not sure if it's £4-£7an hour in that Borough to park if you preffer slightly posher* closer parking near Olympia though.

It's fairly small. Feels like a very steep bit of the trail before the fallen tree jump/carry.

It's a great big scary cliff after an off camber bit, with a bike destroying tree at the bottom.
Or that's how DK desribed it anyway.
