Well obviously the tree leaps out at people, otherwise Helter wouldn't have hit it.
  • Greetings all,

can anyone come along on the ride sunday morning, holmbury/pitch hill.
What sort of riding you planning to do.

    Cheers

    Hi Pieman
More than welcome. We normally only 'plan' if that's the right word when we get there, but will probably be Holmbury to Leith and back.
As much trail and single track as possible, but method is normally ride up hill, rest, natter. Ride down, wait for me, rest natter.
Ages range from 14 to 48, fitness levels from not very to very, skill levels from mediocre to competent, bravery levels from hero to kitten.
The ride is for fun, so pace is whetever we can manage as a group, taking chicken runs is acceptable, and quite all right to watch more heroic types attempt jumps etc and laugh at them when they stack it. Or be laughed at if you are one of the heroes.
    That pretty much it.
If you keep checking in here in case of any changes, although this one seems pretty organised, and if you PM me your phone no I'll reply in case you can't find us on the day. Weather looks good so car park should be pretty hectic.

It's fairly small. Feels like a very steep bit of the trail before the fallen tree jump/carry.
It's a great big scary cliff after an off camber bit, with a bike destroying tree at the bottom.
Or that's how DK desribed it anyway.
Looks so tame in a photo though.

Now need to work out if I'm doing the bike show tomorrow. Mrs Atlaz isn't well and if I'm riding Sunday, might need to be a less crap husband and spend time with her :)

Am gonna aim for 9.30am in the par-cark at the bottom of Pitch.

We still on for the rent-a-mob kick-off at 10am in Walking Bottom?

Just drive further past Bike shop on your left towards -Walking Bottom- Carpark, eventually you will see the blingiest bikes of your life ...

p.s. Rad or injured riders do some practise HERE. Enjoy.

Are we meeting at Walking Bottom then? Or is Popstar trying to confuse us so he can get up later?

And that line rider game thingy is impossible, I would have gotten down the real course faster

Can we smuggle a bottle of vodka inside?

Thel33ter how the hell did you make Sunday 10am look in red colour? I gave up after wrestling with codes for half an hour.

It looks as if lil group for Earls Court (12.00) would be me, Naveed, Supra ... DKenny Atz to confirm? I will start my boozing now, to make best out of event.

Bungalistic ... top man, didn't fully recover and allready looking for techy riding. Awesome.

beers already started (actually cider, but then I am from the west country, ooo arrr). Will see tomorrow if I manage to get up in time to get a train. I feel I'm in Young Ones mode where before mid day doesn't exist.

You make the font colour thing appear {size=24]{color=red]here[/color][/size} and put the word's in the middle. If you want it big then you put the large text bits around it.

So this code should look like this with the right bracket thingies.

Giving Earl's Court a miss. Will take me one and a half hours to get there for a start and don't think there's enough there for me to justify the cost.

I KNEED some KNARL to test the Enduro

Pedally + 145mm at the front and around 160mm+ at the back equals slow on anything not downwards.

Not slow just in need of bigger legs , how do you think i feel with 165mm rear and 160mm front :D:D

Maybe one less. Might have to do an emergency heathrow run. Not sure yet tho
  • Will be out next weekend.

I went out Thursday very wet out there ,although the weather will probably have made it a bit better now .The good news from the ride was that I now have 6 new trails to show off :D all knarly and very cool, kind of mini down hills with some pushing to get to the tops. one trail awesome 5 or 6 tight switchbacks :D:D

If anyones up for it i will be out next weekend probably saturday. give me a shout if you fancy some new stuff......

Cool. If my foot allows it, I may be interested. Though maybe diving into knarly DH so soon may not be advisable.

Talking of DH, would a shorter stem be worth looking into? Not that I wan't to go into full on DH mode, but just thinking that I tend to prefer a more downward ride and would like to master some of the steeper bits. Amongst many other things (key being my lack of skills and general fear of the steep bits!), I thought a shorter stem might help bringing centre of gravity back or lower and just quicker getting off the back.

I'm going to have to cry off sadly, been 'informed' that we're going to lunch with the GF's parents, think I used all my brownie points being out today! It's dried out pretty nicely certainly! I'll get out next time.

Tell me about it... Cooked brekky's all week and copious amounts of homebaked cake is weighing me down too.

Depends how long yours is now, but most people find an 80mm stem sharpens stuff up nicely.

My current stem is 100mm. Have read that even just a small difference in length can make a fairly big difference to the ride.
