Gents
hope you are well.
Anyone up for a week day ride thursday Pm or Friday anytime ?
Also what are plans for sat, sunday as i have a full weekend off and want to do a fairly long ride one of the days, probably Pitch, Holmbury, leith although if the weather is good i may venture out to Boxhill and Norbury park again( if the weather is good all week as the ground sucks in the wet).
I could do everything i know on picth and winterfold and then everything i know on holmbury if you fancy some trails you all know and probably some new ones as well.Santa Cruz Nomad.0 -
For me, depends on whether my car is knackered or not. Got the dreaded engine warning light on and need to find a garage to plug a computer into it and tell me what the problem is. VW being perverse, it can be anything from a total engine meltdown incoming to a brake light sensor.0

If I can escape that would be good.
Going to Swinley at 2 tommorow with a mate if anyone is lucky enough to not be at work. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Hi all,
Rich - could try and do a Thursday ride pm if you're up for it, recently got some night lights which need a trial. As for next weekend be more than happy to tag along. I've been doing Holmbury,Leith Hill since we last met and my fitness has improved.
If anyone's up for a regular night ride around the Surrey Hills I'd be more than glad to come!

Booked up for the next couple of weekends so will treat them as a rare rest from the bike.
Afan was great today. Great weather. Enjoyed the descents as usual.
Popstar's apprentice no.2 did well especially as first time on a mountain bike... and popstar got him to do the black DH!
Had to get back and left Popstar and Supra-man to do the Whites climb again + final descent of Skyline. Reckoned on 30 min climb + 10 min down. Given we spent hours climbing Whites, they're probably still there (unless Popstar put his camera away ).0 -

Oh you nasty trolls. After Sunday Brambling around Skyline in order to shortcut it, and all our adventures there we finally reached Skyline's final sections of descent. Man does that bit properly flow. In my opinion it's around 5km of pure fast n flowing singletrack with slabs of rocks as a launching pads into air. God damn it did we enjoy it. Black run at whites maybe a little more techy only on final section but nowhere does it flow the same as Skyline's final sections. All pieces I have learnt from Jedi I finally managed to apply them without robotical thinking and boy did it flow so good. Had couple of problems of back wheel throwing me out at some places but guess just was going too fast and forcing front wheel to land too soon.
It did felt so good at attacking those slabs of rocks full speed without touching brakes, you do understand what Full Suss is for.
Dkenny pix or it didn't happen. I will work on video tomorrow. What could have been (Video)

Alright guys,
Ive just stumbled onto your thread after looking for a group that regularly rides the surrey hills. i used to ride there every weekend but all my mates have slowly "dropped off" the radar now im left riding on my own, which is pretty dull.
So if its no problem it would be great to join you for a blast at some point. share some knowledge, i have heard rumors about mangrove ally but never found it!
I work pretty ramdom shifts so am around mid week sometimes and weekend other times.0 -

It was great ride yesterday. that final skyline DH , I love it is really the best. the speed and the flow are fab. Id need to do it over and over again.
As for popstar , I still don't know what force Jedi used on him, but he has changed.
not Bling anymore... flowing smoothly instead of charging like a mad man all over the place yelling "go on go on faster".
havent heard any shock bottom out on jumps so seems they are getting mastered.
He has also slowed down on the climbs???..... What has happened
Any way looking forwards to the vids , I hope the cam angle was good and i was close enough. :roll:specialized enduro 06 gone snif

Slowed down on climbs because I started to enjoy descents more. Before it was charging madness without understanding what I was doing. Now it's all easy.
As for Mangrove Alley, Jedi is right it's good fun you can rip trails down there.
Tankbeut, you always welcome to join our social rides around the area we also wouldn't mind if you supplied us with some birds. Supraman is working on it at least.
Really curious to see how is Supra's apprentice N1 riding these days. You tend to ride always faster uphill once you see a beautifull view, think thats why I don't put any effort into climbing any more. What could have been (Video)

Nice one popstar,
ill keep my ear to the ground for the next ride.
Ha ha , As for birds, they should either stay in the trees or the kitchen, not on wet muddy bike rides!0 -
The apprentice will be out on trails on the 12th of sept. She is even up for an Afan trip if we can fit that. Popstar you feel like another Afan trip between the 12th and end of sept?specialized enduro 06 gone snif

Most probably, depends if we can get some numbers. Think need to ride Surrey Hills anytime soon just to practise a bit more. But Richard's style. What could have been (Video)

Good job. I uploaded to Flickr but haven't had time to stick them here . Others here
Another Afan will have to wait until after 12th for me, but definitely up for it. Maybe less photography stops and more riding though to justify the journey. Not that the stops weren't appreciated .
That said I want to get some action shots next time. All I got yesterday was our leisure stops and nice scenery. I couldn't think of where to do the action shots and by the time we got to Goodwood and Darkside I just wanted to enjoy the descents. Maybe the black DH would have been good place to do some, and some of the Northshore. The tabletops I tried last time but it's dark in there and need to mess about with settings. Better if I had my big flash gun.
Action shots hopefully will come from Popstar and maybe his apprentice if he got any
Then there's Coed y Brenin to be done.0 -
I think popstar will agree... at the time we did the skyline DH we could push back up sections... and there are places where you will just naturally take off, the section when you come out of the berm with big rock slabs. you could get nice shots shots also in lower sections where it is like a slalom between the trees.
I d have a good Cam I would nt mind going down and waiting to take pics.
sections where you cross the little streams could be really good too.specialized enduro 06 gone snif

I think I should stand next to those streams with a bucket of water waiting for Supra to charge through. Obviously douse him by a surprise while DKenny pictures it, thats a proper action.
I agree with DKenny, it's either photo/video shoot or riding. Things don't mix together. Next time don't even attempt to beg for lil ladies brake then, no more of them next time.
Bestest action shots would be at Black Run final section, or Skylines last sections as those are awesome.
Anyway, I vote more riding than filming. What could have been (Video)

Arghh, DKenny you lucky man. It doesn't take as much time to fiddle with photos as it is with videos. Yet, as I promised here is the Bank Holiday weekend with Sunday Warriors video.
Redmans, there is a lot of riding to be done around the bestest Surrey Hills area. Don't fall out from group rides. What could have been (Video)
