But some -Rad style descents only Cooldad and me could ride, the rest chickened out. This time I am sure , Cooldad would just pawn all other ol-ladyz.What could have been (Video)

Hate to do it but am going to have to pull out of the Saturday ride, just been given tickets for Lovebox. 4pm start on Sunday sounds good though as will give enough time to recover.popstar wrote:Going to Redlands-Leith hills this Sunday (start 16.00) with Plaisir. Is this the same place we went last time with the lovers on the bonnet?Charge Duster (RIP)

-Well, those sweethearts were desperate.
DKenny,Popstar,Plaisir,Cooldad & Co, Helter meet up at Old spot in Coldharbour (aka bonking spot) 16.00 then. Usually after 15.00 forest and trails are dead empty so most probably will have everytihing to our own. Hopefully will not see that kind of embarassment again. What could have been (Video)

Welcome Tom
The more the merrier.....
Just look for the huge cross on the road in the pic above. Suggest you keep checking in to make sure of the place.
@Popstar - is the33lter's map the place you mean - where we met for Redlands last time?
Anybody up for something on Saturday - Holmbury/ Leith maybe or a bit of Swinley?
@DK maybe Tunnel Hill?I don't do smileys.

Not back until Sunday so no riding for me this weekend. Just got back from 4 days in the Pyrenees (walking not riding) and looking forward to returning with the bike. The ski-station has just opened a load of MTB trails (about 1000 vertical descending metres) with lift passes 15e a day and there's a load of marked trails that are a little wilder from all the other mountains in the area that looked fun too.0
-
I'm going to check out some riding spots more local to me this weekend, but i'm up for Wales trip next sat/sun if that is still the plan0

We're all just a bunch of weekend warriors really, and just post here see who's around and tag along.
Saturday - Could somewhere else. Swinley is an easier place to start out, though has its challenges anyway. Atz showed us a few different routes last time so could swing round those ways if I remember them. Or the usual Pitch/Holmbury on Surrey Hills.
But yeah, there's Tunnel Hill to be explored (and linking up to Porridgepot which I know nothing about yet). Bit of an odd place. Not much on the surface other than fire roads, but hidden away (well hidden!) is a bunch of singletrack, and some tricky natural descents, bomb holes, jump areas and stuff. Not to mention the British Army hiding in the bushes0 -

That tunnel hill bit sounds nice, and I don't mind a bit of slow meandering looking for bits. Where do you start from? And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

I go from the car park by the Basingstoke Canal, just off Mytchett Place Road (turn into Mytchett Heath road and left turn into the big car park).
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 8&t=h&z=18
It's all to the right of there. The good stuff I know (when I can remember where it is!) is in a triangle between Mytchett Place Road, Old Guildford Road (which is a dirt track lane really), and Gapmouth Road. But there could be much more. North of Gapmouth is apparently Porridgepot which has some stuff too.
I'm not sure if there's anything to the south, but it's a red flag firing range area so can't always get in there anyway.0 -
DK That will make a change anyway. Fancy meeting there tomorrow morning, not too early - 9ish/10ish?
We can check out the bits you know and explore a bit.I don't do smileys.

Nice little morning ride. Managed to find the stuff I was after on Tunnel Hill and managed to do the see saw this time. thel33ter managed a gap jump by mistake .
Then explored porridgepot, once we found how to get across the railway and canal. More lovely stuff over there, and the area is bigger than I thought considering it looks small on the map. And yeah, that run was called 'Pants Way Down': http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15437658
Next up, 4pm Surrey Hills tomorrow.0 -

A big scary 6-7 foot gap jump with nails and barbed wire and rottweilers in the gap
Ok, Only the 6-7 foot part is real
Rest of the ride was great, found some tiny north shore bridges and a fun little seesaw thing, and some other random trails all over the place. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle
