Any plans for the week? Attempting to get out late afternoon for some rides before the nights get too early. Chances are I'll be stuck in the office.

Early yet, but weekend should be fine for me. Somewhere Surrey Hills and/or Swinley. Or maybe make a change and go elsewhere. Talking of which, a Wales trip some time next month could be in order.
  • dead kenny, im up for meeting thurs for swinley, can do around midday. or fri can do around 2pm if thats any good?

BdJ you have intrigued my soul with news about Trax venture. Must visit that place and give a verdict.

Hayes Hawks BMX track on the other hand, wasn't suited to MTBikes riding. Mr TuTu was too big a bike for that, total overkill.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

I sent them a message about the suitability of the track for mountain bikes and this was the response (it sounds slightly arsey if you ask me, I think they got the wrong end of the stick with my question, which was inoccent enough, but at least it sounds good for mountain bikes):

Some words from Rowan the designer on the track that addresses this concern:

We have already tested everything that is there and jumped it all fine on 26" wheels with no pedalling after the start ramp - we said we would build a progressive track as if we built something everyone can pedal at and clear the first jump straight away - where will the group progress their riding skills from there?

There is not meant to be much room for pedalling at all as it is a pump trail and all the momentum can be gained from the features themselves and by developing the knowledge of how to move your weight on the bike to generate that momentum. So yes while pump tracks/trails are inherently BMX like in their appearance, it is by no means a bmx track and we build them to be ridden on mountain bikes, it goes without saying that the smooth nature of the track means that it can be ridden on a BMX bike also - this is very important you need the track to be inclusive.

Probably just Swinley though, arranging to pick up Sarah before she forgets how to ride (like Popstar)
Can you get to Swinley without too much hassle?

May do a some Surrey Hills stuff on Saturday then, and Swinley Sunday.

Anyone been over Ranmore way recently and know what the conditions are like after the rains? Tempted even to go Dorking->Box and explore that stuff off the back of Box if I can find it.

1 is a bit late. I have to get back by 3 so with all the running around would end up with an hour or so ride - not really worth it.

Walking Bottom is fine unless there are any better ideas.

Alternate I thought was Dorking, up Box and the stuff behind there but I've no idea where to look for the stuff and climbing Box is a pain.

    Or muck about on Leith.
  • DK,

Fairly easy, don't really know way round box, leith a little and redlands and others probably less.

    Happy to venture though.

Any thoughts if you fancy a change, I'll pm my mobile to you so can send txt as prob won't be near a pc much after 5.

    Cheers

Sorry guys I'm out for tomorrow. Was doing some fettling (nice new Mudlover enclosed cables to fit) and BB was seized. Stripped it and despite oil, grease, brute force and that last resort of experts everywhere, copious amounts of swearing, it's not moving.
Will text as well as I'm sure some of you have a social life and won't read this.
