  • I had a good ride in Swinley yesterday evening, trails nice and quiet and dry-ish, typically we suffered the 'one more run' syndrome in the Gulley. One badly egg shaped wheel, a heavily bent saddle and a popped suspension fork seal with oil spraying everywere. Luckily none of the bust equipment was mine for once.
Am riding the Evans Ride It event on Saturday. 35miles in The Chilterns. I believe there is cake available.

  • @benpinnick do you think you'll be around for a ride on Sat? If so I can have a look at that Stumpy frame?

I registered on there, but that's about it. I'm registered all over the place, but too many sites to keep frequenting them all. Have some good videos on there though. Vimeo has good bike vids also.

    I'm on Google+ https://plus.google.com/113754362479085284393

Trying to find out how to do groups on there like on Facebook (P.S. there's a London Calling MTB facebook group for those who don't know - not everyone likes FB though, which I can understand).

I think I might be able to join you all, but I'll be a little late. Maybe be on the bike around 1. I can find you wherever though.

@DK, any chance you could send me a Google+ invite? Been looking around for one for a while.

@BDJ, would you be ok to meet at 1, as it'll probably be a bit easier for everyone, if not, we'll meet at 12 and let Ben catch up to us somewhere.

We're also still planning a camping trip thing in Wales for sometime between the middle and end of August, but not much is specific yet.

Tomorrow Swinley 1pm, can do that.

Sunday Surrey Hills, early is what people want (those with lives or at least limited passes unlike me. I'm free all day).

Who's up for a long-ish trek round Surrey's finest? To be decided from where.

Lol - obviously the fact that I might not be able to make it didn't come across then

@danny, hopepully that will be fine. I have baby things this morning but should be done in time.

@cooldad and dk, never agree to rearrange your day around me!

Good ride today, once everyone had battled through traffic jams and closed roads.
Looking at SH tomorrow, but one lot want to start early (9) and undecided where from.
Would prefer to start later, 10 or 11, anyone around?

Camping trip to Wales now almost organised. We are going from 9 to 14 August, small campsite near Neath, close to Afan, and Brecon, Brefcha etc not a long drive away. Nice site, basic but no rabble, noise or hooligans. One of Damon's friends is probably meeting up on the Friday staying until Sunday. Anyone else interested let me know and I'll let you have the details.

9am bunch are starting at Westcott... maybe. Last post on FB just had that as a question mark.

I'll go for 11. We'd said High Ashes before so go for there at the moment unless anyone has a better idea. Peaslake would be my second option.

High Ashes directions in case anyone else wants to join us - http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/forums/vie ... 0#16722320

It's not the farm itself but the car park just further along. Watch out for the low bar on entrance, but there's a layby opposite also.

I hope to join you in Wales between your dates of riding, if lucky even for 2 days.

But now, I am off for Sky Ride of Hillingdon ... show the unwashed ones some style.

@Ben, we don't have much of a plan, what day would be best for you, probably going to do Afan on the Saturday and one of the days during the week.

@Popstar, as long as you aren't 4 hours late that'll be cool, but if you are staying overnight you'll need to book something quick.

Good ride today, if more epic than planned (as always). Great conditions. Hope the two we bumped into got something out of our usual lack of plan and directions. Clearly I was completely unfit being at the back most of the time. Need to get back into doing Surrey Hills regularly.

Wales - planning some time off this month and should be able to pop along. Have other things to do so may be a few days, or at least a day. I'd do the camping thing but, I don't do camping (not since I was back in Cub Scouts at least!), and sure my back wouldn't cope. Luxury B&B perhaps :D.

Day trip should be okay. Though has the tunnel past Newport been sorted out yet?

If its this one, it re-opened yesterday. Not bad considering a truck exploded in it...

Yep, that's the one. Sounds like it should be okay then.

The other bit is the diversion that had been going on for years near Afan (that Popstar gets lost round). I assume that's finished now.

@thel33ter I will probably take a day off during the week and come up for the day. If you let me know what day you'll be doing Afan I'll plan around that. Haven't been there for ages, looking forward to it!

  • I had a great time on Saturday @ Swinley, thanks for the tour guys. I was pretty achy on Sunday though, I need to get a bit fitter to keep up with you guys I reckon. Hope to join you again this weekend if I can but will only know nearer the weekend.
