    Hi all,

Don’t think I am considering stop doing mountain bike here in London after the ‘nice weather’ ride we had past weekend in Swinley.

This weekend I will try to get to Epping Forest and ride there for my first time.

    See you!

    Enough chatter. This weekend.
Swinley Saturday around 1. So far me and Mtbcrazy I think.
I'm up for Swinley. Call it 12 and I'll be there at 1 then :D

Assuming I don't end up with the right failure of getting through traffic like last time.

Bike is still in the car covered in mud at present!

And shoes have dried out but sand has got into everywhere. Wonder if you can chuck Five Tens on a rinse wash in the machine  (not now, as that would be another week to dry out. Need a dryer I think).

p.s. Maj posted up on that "other" forum - Tunnel/Frith Hill Sunday 10.30.

If no one's doing Surrey Hills, might go for that.

(for those who don't know, it's the south side of the M3 from Swinley. MOD land near Deepcut/Frimley Green).

DK there are road hassles so suggest when you get to Chobham you go straight through via Sunningdale, get onto London Road (A329) then left onto New Forest Ride (B3430) that will get you to the roundabout at Swinley. Shouldn't be too much longer, but let's say 12 for you. See you at 1.

Where's Tunnel/Frith Hill? Is it any good?

    Thanks.

It's kind of a cross between Swinley and Surrey Hills. Less hills, but more natural trails.

Though the woodwork has mostly gone unfortunately.

Frith to the north of the canal, also a bit called Porridgepot to the right is usually where people go, then south of the canal and Gapmouth road and the little area there is Tunnel Hill.

Looks small but it's bigger than it seems. Or at least it's very easy to get lost in there.

Army dug some of the stuff, Tunnel Hill Trolls are regular riders there, and Gorrick do some of their races there.

    Swinley today.

Traffic on Google Maps is showing much the same as last week. Northbound on A322 up to Coral Reef junction pretty much a standstill, similar in places along the A30 and A305 going round that way. Sunningdale way there's a jam on the A329 also.

Hmm, maybe I should head off now!

Meeting by Go Ape as usual I assume.

And anyone able to do anything else during the course of the week let us know.
Thinking TH one day, might go down to the New Forest one day just to look around.

My chain snapped twice in swinley today, so we're probably gonna keep it local tomorrow, unless you have a spare lying around. Already ordered one from ebay, so I don't want to buy one from the shop in peaslake.
And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Change of plan, thel33ter will use his back up. Meet you at Nirvana Westcott at 11. We'll have to pick up the other bike so can't make it too early.

Could have popped into Evans with a print out of the cheapest on the net for price match. P&S in Peaslake will price match too though not sure they do cheapest chains.

No powerlinks though? Just keep on going until the whole chain is powerlinks :)

As we had a little event at home, couldn't join you that weekend. But little popstarlet is growing quick. Obviously due to some reasons couldn't bring delights to you lot on trails but here these are for e-sharing, behold of my cooking excellence:

Did I miss 5 or so years?
Looks yummy, did you actually make it or just stick the number on the top?
Either way, we will expect one next time you manage to get out, although by now, with all the cake, and lack of riding, your bike will probably snap in half.

Don't think they pricematch Ebay. Anyway I'd already ordered a couple, should be here tomorrow, which is a day off riding, my legs are feeling weak.
Rode up and down Leith a few times today with MrB and thel33ter.

  • Had an amazing ride at Swinley yesterday :) Found loads of cool stuff, little drops, fast bits of single track etc and had a good session in jump gully.

My favorite without a doubt though was a trail down from the resevoir which has 2 entrances next to each other and 1 off to the right, is this section called the Labyrinth? My fave of these was the 1st one you come to bearing off to the left as you enter. Really nice bermed fast turns leading to a few jumps nearer the bottom. Do these have names?

    Thanks.

The left left is Deerstalker, the one off that to the right I don't know, I call it left right. The one on the right is Babymaker. Labyrinth is the trail leading out from the bottom where they all meet up, currently marled with a red mark.
The flat area on the top is the Clubhouse.

Thanks. The Deerstalker is the one I'm on about then, a really nice run :)

    Planning Tunnel Hill tomorrow probably.
