Only way is to get a train to Bracknell (Martins Heron station is closest) andit's a 10/15 minute ride down.
If you can get there I can give you directions.

I have checked and I can get a train in Waterloo station and arrive at Martins Heron. Where do you usually meet there?

No one going from central London?

    Thanks!

At the entrance next to Go Ape, can't miss it.
Outside the station head southish on B3430 (new Forest Ride) Stay on it across the A322 (Bracknell Road) where it turns into Nine Mile Drive.
About 100m along turn left into carpark. (Coral Reef will be opposite)
About a mile and a half in total.

Ok, I think that I can get there, it doesn't seem very difficult.
What time are you meeting and when do you expect to finish?

    Thanks!

Starting at 10, should finish between 12 and 1.
But that depends on who turns up on time. (You know who you are)

Probably closer to 1 though as we rest a bit and I need a smoke break now and again.

Despite the title, a lot of us on this thread are more from surrounds of London rather than central. Though have been some more recently popping up from in London, all without cars!

Sadly public transport + bikes outside of London is not great.

Maybe shouldn't wait for me then ;)

Hi mate I've made the journey a couple of times and it's actually easy so nothing to worry about. I can't make it on Sat but hopefully will join these guys for a ride soon.

For those coming from Woking/M3 side, I think the A322 is closed while they try and fix the last resurfacing cockup.
I think it's just between the big roundabout after Bagshot to the roundabout at the Swinley turnoff, so might have to detour up Swinley Road, London Road and back along New Forest Ride.

    Hi,

I would like to join you on Saturday, but I don't know where is Swinley Forest and how to get there using public transport.

Does anyone of you know how to get there from central London? If someone is commuting from London I would like to meet him.

    Thanks!
    Bruno.

Bruno, let me know when you're arriving at M' Heron and I will pick you up if you like.

    Roads to Swinley are clear.

Trails were bone dry and peppery dusty too. Awesome.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

Hoping to get out there some time tomorrow to check out the demo bikes as it's demo weekend. Depends when/if I can try one out. Might even go... shock horror!.... early! work out what the deal is and can meet up at 10.

Rain expected like today. Though doesn't seem too bad at the moment. A bit of drizzle. Makes it a bit cooler and fresh.

Roads sucked big time. A322 was closed as said. Took a back road to nip along the A30 and round only to find that's where the diversion was going and the whole route was jammed. Probably should go to the right on the A30 instead and up via Ascot and round. The queue was way back to the M3 though.

And Swinley sucks in the wet. Heading out in the morning thinking what were people talking about with shitty rain, it's just a bit of drizzle. Then it chucked it down.

Despite my bragging about my Five Tens never getting soaked, they're well and truly soaked now. Not sure they'll be dry by tomorrow!

Not doing Swinley tomorrow. Surrey Hills will be better in the wet, but might be in fair weather mode and not bother if it's still raining.

@DK that'll teach you to listen to PS. Thought you knew he lives in a parallel universe by now. Sorry we stuffed up meeting you, actually had a really good ride, if somewhat soggy (bit of an understatement maybe). Introduced BrunoM (from sunny Spain) to some English summer weather.

As for tomorrow, I'm going to play it by ear. Supposed to be worse than today, Even has some little lightning bolts on the map. If it turn out ok I'll be somewhere, if not might have a lazy day, have bacon, bike GP's on TV.

    Hi guys,

I am safe and warm at home now, the ride today was really good and the weather pretty bad! But it is nice to be able to do some mountain bike near London for those that doesn't have a car.

Thank you all for your help and for letting me ride with you, I don't know if I will get used to the weather but I will try. Mi bike runs very bad now, I am going to find out if I need to fix something.

Hope to see you in next rides, bye!

Was a little wet, but that just adds to the fun, if occasional enough. We'll try and arrange more Spanish weather next time. Blue skies now mind. Damnit.

Got bright, then grim, chucked it down again, sun out again, now getting dark and grim again.

It's going round in a big circle round the UK I think and going to be on and off heavy showers.

Anyway, gives us Brits something to talk about as is the tradition.
