  • Yup tiny oil leak if I leave it upside down.

I did have it apart to change the damper from remote to non-remote. It was really tight to unscrew and I didn't tighten it up anywhere near as much.

It may need tightening or perhaps I knackered the seal somehow. (Where can you even get new seals from?)

I am testing the water to see if there would be an interest for this
    http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16678688#16678688

I would be interested, its 2 weeks before the Megavalanche so a bit of alpine training would be good. and test out in the new bike in big alpine stuff.
which area would you want to ride?

    maybe fly to geneva??

climbing can be done on pedals or chairlifts. there are dh tracks fast single , xc family tracks, a bit for everyone.

I tell you what l33ter, you ride the whole thing, we'll uplift what we can. Lets see who has more fun at the end :)

This might be more doable than the mega given some of the other stuff planned for the year. BTW, anyone know if you can give someone your mega entry if you can't make it?

I say to Cooldad, -better start saving. Canyon are very good bikes and are value for money. Trip to France isn't that expensive after all once kid turns 14, in Jewish tradition parents must splash out for a big party with all trimmings and honeys. Have seen it happening myself, so to be civilised and all that , better get that bike and a trip to France.

    Amen.

  • I have just joined the forum and wondered if I could tag along on your ride, 2nd / 3rd Jan. I'm based about 15 mins outside Swinley Forest.

Might not be able to reply tonight as just off to 'pickle my liver' in true New Years eve style! :D

Does say 1000m of climb. Is that vertical, or the climbing distance?

Nice area. Wonder if the route over the border goes via The Wall :D, though the direction of the route would mean climbing it rather than descending (great fun on skis).

Descent from Avoriaz to Morzine should be good I think. No way I'd climb it though, even by road!

Don't know about camping there though. I like my luxury accommodation :D (and I would stay in Switzerland, it's bloody expensive).

Vertical I am afraid but over 80km that is nothing and most likely short & steep clump so not so bad

It's a Bar Mitzvah, happens for the 13th birthday, and as he's now 15, few years too late. But if he wants I'll get him a jar of honey.

A quick question for a Surrey Hills local who's actually been riding (not just thinking about it...) recently:

Has all of the accumulated frozen snow and ice on the ridgetop trails now thoroughly disappeared? I expect it has, but I was surprised at how much was still around on top of Ranmore earlier in the week. Anyone been out more recently?
  • cooldad
    cooldad Posts: 32,599
Not more recently, we were out Tuesday? I think, and it was muddy slushy and icy - did Pitch and Holmbury. It's been quite warm during the week, so would expect the ice and slush has gone. Will find out tomorrow just how muddy it still is.
Ride planned tomorrow starting 10am from Walking Bottom carpark if you don't have any plans.

My aim is to get out of the house a bit before 8 but depends on weather, solar flares, migrating penguins, the cost of brent crude and other, less important variables.
