Currently commuting on this rather beautiful Colnago CT1 (dry commutes only!). Has a mix of Record and Chorus and the wheels are handbuilt Mavic Open Pro on Veloce hubs. The upside down stem is due to a combinations of a dodgy back and a too-short steerer, never mind...

Probably about £600 worth.
You're right about the hubs and rims. The spokes are Sapim Race on the rear and Sapim laser on the front. I couldn't justify upwards of £60 per wheel for the cx-rays :-)2010 Lynskey R230

very nice!
Don't suppose you could either post or send me what it's like to ride? SWMBO has come into some money and is offering to buy me a new frame for Crimbo. This is one of the shortlist0 -
In a word...fantastic. I should add bloody brilliant to that but its more than one word.
I'm no speedster, but do plenty of club runs, sportives etc and cannot fault it's performance. Its not a bike to break records on, but it's no slouch. So much more comfy than carbon, not in the slightest bit 'whippy' and very surefooted. I've hit a couple of potholes on night-time club runs on it and you don't feel like you're riding a bucking bronco like you can with stiffer carbon frames.
My advice, try and ride one and you'll see what I mean. For sure, I 'ain't going back to carbon. My Ti

If you do test one, bear in mind there are some subtle improvements to the Mk II, but enjoyMy Ti

Some lovely bikes on here!
Have a VN Zephyr myself, had it for three and a half years and done quite a few thousand miles now in the UK and in Europe. It's been fantastic for me, changed from a carbon bike after only putting 350 miles on it, felt like riding a plank and hated it.....
Due to a combination of shedding 20kgs of weight this year and attending the NEC bike show last month and chatting to the guys at Enigma, I REALLY fancy an Enigma with Dura Ace 11 speed 7900.
Was looking at some of the maybe more "racy" frames but after talking to Jim (I think) on the stand he convinced me that the Echo with its compact frame would be more suitable due to a back issue that I have.
Anybody with an Echo have any advice?
Thanks.0 -

Photo in the post above yours is an Enigma Echo. It's a good frame. I use it for commuting and as a winter hack. I personally prefer my Carbon bike but then again it's in a different league to the Echo.
I wouldn't discount a "racy" frame without riding a few. The right bike also depends what you plan to use it for or the type of riding you like to do which you haven't stated. It's probably worth a thread of its own in the buyers advice forum.0 -
Thanks... although it doesn't look quite the same now with it's winter boots (Mavic Aksium and SKS Race Blades), at least it will remain out on the road.0

Finally got a decent day to take some, poor, photos. Still not been out on her yet.

Recently built this up..
Bars have been lowered and rotated forward slightly following first ride.
Wheels are Campagnolo Record hubs, Sapim spokes and Open Pro rims. I had these built up back in 2001 and were my best wheels for a few years until, like most handbuilts at that time they were relegated to the back of the man cave when some factory built wheels arrived on the scene. Only used in summer so still in great condition.
Fulcrum 5's and SKS Bluemels for winter.
Rides beautifully.0 -

Lovely! I changed from 23s to 25s on mine and it has made a big difference in comfort. I found the 23s at 90-100 psi really quite unforgiving, 25s at around 85 psi have changed the way the bike handles and feels much more comfortable now.My Ti
