just wondered what pedals your going to use. ive just found and ordered some bronze coloured m540 spd,s off ebay
    Viner Salviati
    Shark Aero Pro
    Px Ti Custom
    Cougar 531
    Sab single speed
    Argon 18 E-112 TT
    One-one Ti 456 Evo
    Ridley Cheetah TT
    Orange Clockwork 2007 ltd ed
    Yeti ASR 5
    Cove Hummer XC Ti
  • I've already got some White Shimano M520s that I've been using for a while, and some old white V8s if I need flats.

With the orange cranks, I think orange pedals might just be a bit much.

M520s are cheap, but they work really well and are nice and strong.

for the money M520's are awesome

Ah, well I got them for a very special price  Paid less for the set that the retail value on a single brake.

One thing to note about Codes. They've been getting a lot of bad press lately for being underpowered and unreliable. I agree with this to a cartain extent, but the trick is to bleed them straight out the box.
Sadly, for some reason, the Avid factory bleed on these is shocking. Once you have removed all the air from the lines and topped them up, they work how they are meant to.
It's not something you should need to do with new brakes really, and for that reason, I'd not recommend them at full price.
Oh, and I dont know about these, but the '08 model I had before had the worst hoses known to mankind EVER! I swear they were made from swiss cheese or something. Hopefully these will be better (although I'm going to change the hoses for some white ones at some point anyway)

Where did you buy them?! :P

I can't really afford them :( but am getting some Elixirs :)
  • tbh, Elixirs are a better buy. Nobody actually needs this much stopping power unless you are maybe racing inners or taking trips over to Canada and the Alps. Elixirs are ALMOST as powerful, but much lighter with a better build quality. God, I'm talking myself out of them here, you want to buy a set

I got them off a mate. They are shop soiled, if you look REALLY closely at the caliper in the pic above, you can see there is a very slight scuff on the bottom corner. That's it though, and he threw in a couple of spare sets of pads.

    Hmm....fair enough

Let us know how they are
  • Yaaay! :D

More shiny stuff waiting for me when I got home!

First off, i had my headset fitted today:

    My XT Cassette arrived:

So did my KMC X10-SL Chain:

    My Pike Forks:

    DSCF0275.jpg

and finally, my raceface Atlas cranks (which DID arrive with Haribo):

    DSCF0270.jpg

I'll take the forks down the LBS tomorrow to fit the star nut and lop some of the steerer off.

Then it's just a case of waiting for my wheels to arrive and we're done!

I also ordered some orange coloured rotor bolts today :D

Mate... you trying to outpimp me or something :lol::lol:

Sweet, going to have a cool bloody bike mate, the money has gone in all the right places ;)
  • Outpimp you? are you MENTAL!
I've got neither the time, money nor patience to try that

REALLY looking forward to receiving my wheels though so Ican finally get it finished.

Aye, she's gonna be a bobby dazzler alright.... 8)

I can't wait to see it finished ;)
  • Cheers DMC :D How's your P7 coming along?

Taking the forks down to work with me tomorrow. Dropping them off at lunch to have the crown race and star nut fitted, and the steerer cut down to 190mm.

I've got the chainset fitted, one thing I noticed is that it's harder fitting RaceFace cranks than it is fitting Shimano cranks but the fitting seems much more secure.

I'll probably finish building up tomorrow night so then it's just waiting for the wheels to show up.

I ordered a custom sticker set for the Pikes in orange. I'll see what they look like when they arrive before I decide wether or not to fit them.

P7's coming along nicely now, got some bits to post up on me thread tomorrow & wheels coming from Merlin anyday now, just forks left to buy and (stick a fork in me) I'm done :D

What wheels are you going for?

I was going to get the same chainset as you've just bought but in red, almost think I should've too :lol:
  • I've got some DT Swiss EX1750 in the end.

I really wanted the I9 set, but sadly they sold the day before I was going to pay for them :(
    These should be good though.
  • Nothing new arrived today :(

My LBS did sort my fork out though, so when I got home I threw some bits together.

It's a bit of a shame that the ergon grips came with lime green end bits. When I ordered white, I assumed they'd be white all over. Might have to sort something out about that.

I still need to wait for an IS mount to arrive to mount the caliper to the forks, and I'm waiting on my custom decals and obviously, my wheels. Starting to come together now though.

    looks really awesome 8)
shame about the grips, IMO you should have bought different colour grips anyway as after a ride the white grips will be the same colour as your frame, which in a way is a good thing
  • Well, I bought them mainly because they are Ergon grips (recommended by El Cap) that are supposed to relieve the pain in my hads a bit on long technical descents. If they work well, I might replace them with the black ones at some point. Although the rubber on the grips looks like it'll not be TOO hard to clean up.

Nice work fella, it's really starting to come together now. Lovely.

Actually, the grips dont look too out of place strangely enough, and when it comes to cleaning just use some isopopyl alcohol..... ;)

But anayways, going to be a fantastic ride no doubt!!
  • mmmm, here's a thought. If I do get along with these grips, I might just strip the green paint back to the bare alloy under it.

Meh, anyway. I'll wait and see how it looks when it's all finished.

Looking good. Love the colour scheme.
Shame about the saddle thing....and the I9's (sorry to mention)but I'm sure your DT Swiss will be great :D And I know DT Swiss has one of the "better" rear hubs on the market :D Good choice :D

This is going to look top notch! Forks definately need the decals in my opinion though, them and the strip on the grips are the only things letting this very nice colour scheme down :)

thats far too nice for a cat!

    no, really, really, really amazing!
    I like bikes and stuff
  • Cheers all :D

I'm having some real problems with my wheels. Paid for, in full, over a week ago and still not shipped. (Bought as new off classifieds, not the ones here). I've emailed the guy again to find out if he's sorted them today, if not, I might just cut my losses and get a refund. Maybe go for some Pro II on Spank Subrosa or something similar.
    Anyway, we'll see.

Nothing much in the post today. I did get my decals though. Slightly different style and size to the ones that come as standard on the pikes, but they look ok to me. More pics to follow once I've got them fitted. Bought off a guy on eBay. If anyone wants his details PM me and I'll pass them on. Seems like a nice guy.
