No places left before 09.20 for the HOTA now. Looks like they'll go even faster than last year...Bike1

Also considering (in no particular order)
Mad March Hare
North Cornwall Tor
Dragon
Highclere
Dartmoor Classic
Action 100 Bristol - London
New Forest Sportive
Cheddar Challenge
and I may possibly get lured back to the Exmoor Beast (gave it a miss this year - good job as I've been ill for most of October)"Impressive break"

I start at 10.05. 110k.
Right, so can someone tell me how to train in order to do this! My eyes glaze over as soon as i read 'interval'.0 -

I'm down for the same time. Nice that the start times are a bit later this year. Last time some guy wanted to top himself on my train so we were late arriving, then it snowed. Eventful day0 -
There's so many of us on the HOTA now, perhaps we need to come up with something to identify ourselves.
How about a BR logo taped to the frame? Subtle but obvious if you're looking for it."Impressive break"

Definitely want to do several sportives next year - my grand total of 1 this year was a bit disappointing (though Ride 24 partly made up for that). The New Forest sportive was aces and would definitely like to do that again.0

I'll probably have Kingston Wheelers bib shorts wrapped up like Ranulph Fiennes.FCN 2-4.

I'm down for the 10.05am start too.
Errm, yeah - training. I'm just planning to ride up as many 'hills' as I can between now and then. I do have a 1 in 10 hill of about 350m on my commute home - will have to do that a good few times to get anywhere close to the climbing involved in HOTA, but I guess every little helps.0 -
OK, I'm hoping for some help here. If possible, I'd like fairly exact waypoints for the feed and checkpoint stops, at least the advertised ones. Anyone know if my rough positions below are anything near accurate?
Hartfield Village Hall, I think is on this stretch of the B2110
Kidd's Hill carpark - checkpoint.
Wheatsheaf Hill/Ide Hill Village Hall
Obv. I'll make the .gpx available to all who want to use it.0 -
My training for last years Shakespeare Sportive (106 miles and same amount of climbing as this one) was like this – very fast lengthened commutes ( about 20 miles in total) every day of the week. I also did 2 long weekend rides of 50 miles each in the 2 weeks prior to the ride with some hills thrown into the equation.
That allowed me to do the sportive above in 6 hours and 30 minutes, a decent time.
I also lost some weight by not eating as much – from my normal 95kg to around 90kg.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Maze Hill - up from Trafalgar Road on the east side of the Park. Tried Vanbrugh Hill once - that would be more interesting - think it peaks at nearly 1 in 5, but it is, as a consequence, a bit shorter...0 -
ooo thats a a nasty hill, I can barely walk up it let alone ride :oops:0

It seems the HOTA route has changed this year so maybe it will be nearer the 2000m of climbing advertised. Last year it worked out as approx. 1300. As to training required, a lot would depend on what riding you are currently doing. A couple of rides a week with a weekly 3-4 hour ride would be more than enough to get round it.
It's certainly a good sportive though and I know quite a few people planning to head down to tag along with the early starters.Still breathing.....0 -
Blige me!

How about listing numbers and which route your riding here? I'll get going:
