Ace journalist Lionel Birnie pointed out that Sky won't announce rider signings today as the news coverage would be swamped by the talk of football transfers.0

He will be on January 1st. Now, it's still Bruyneel, who has no incentive to do anything. What a clusterf@ck that situation is.
Anyone found something official on Hincapie?0 -

"Big George" Hincapie very recently won the US National Professional Road Champion title...
*groan*
Is that actually what's written on his passport?0 -
Columbia had a wealth of talent but watch their last Tour and no one had a chance to ride for themselves, it was all about delivering Cavendish. That's why Wiggo left last year.0

Cancellara to Sky, apparently

Seen quite a few British pros putting miles in around my way (Peak District) - Ian Stannard, Brad Wiggins pootling around Wilmslow. Convenient for Manchester BC offices perhaps?0 -

I can't see it. He also signed a 3 year deal last year with Saxo.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Yep. I'm wondering if it's not the happiest of environments. I think Andyp said a while ago that Columbia "are a hard team to like"
They're very effective however.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Management is quite strict there, there's a clear distinction between the likes of Aldag and Holm and the riders.0

It may also be convenient for their homes - Wiggins, at least, lives within striking distance (Chorley, I think), so I wouldn't necessarily take that on its own as sign that he's off to Sky... I get the impression that a lot of the British pros maintain good connections with BC anyway.0 -
The Sky team will be based in Belgium and Italy, not Manchester. Wiggins moved to Manchester years ago when he was part of the track set up.0

Wiggins lived in Chapel en le Frith for a while (prior to the previous olympics) moving to Wigan not long after. Haven't seen him this way for a long long time. Never seen Stannard getting the miles in round here before though. Has he signed to Sky?
