Swapped the inner tube on the Foil for long valve variety. Was out on a ride today in a bitterly cold wind when I punctured. To cut a long (and very cold) story short, I busted off my valve extension whilst pumping up my tyre. 40k on a squidgy rear tyre. What's more upsetting is that I put out a long valve inner before I left - then I forget to take it! Needless to say that's a lesson learned.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

Completely reorganised the man cave. I can now get to any bike without having to move the others, and I can get to any box of stuff without having to move or climb over other boxes of stuff. As a bonus, there's enough space left to have one bike on the turbo and another on the workstand, all while keeping the workbench free...
On the flipside - the tip was closed yesterday and I'm racing both days this weekend, so my garden's going to look like a fly-tipping site until I've played several weeks' worth of the "Hide the junk in the wheelie bin" game.Pannier, 120rpm.0 -
Tried different combinations of chain rings and cranks on the Inflite and have ended up with the original 175mm cranks on with 52/36 rings.
Confirmed that all the rings I have a true and that the spider on the 172.5mm cranks I bought on eBay was bent. That must have taken some doing. Bastard must have known.
Anyway, all sorted now and I'll finally get to ride it this weekend.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Cotic Solaris in large with full XT in 2x10 flavour. Not managed a proper ride yet and this weekend is already looking fully booked. Should get round the park for a quick shakedown anyway.
Edit: Forgot the awful pic.

That's nice, except for the saddle pointing down... Is that your chain set for sprints?left the forum March 20230 -
How can you tell that the saddle's pointing down? I had this comment in a picture I posted - my saddle is dead level. It only takes a shot from just below the height of the saddle (as in V68's judging by the bars) for the wider part of the rear of the saddle to look higher.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

It's easy enough - you can draw a line along V68s saddle, taking into account the wider part of the saddle sticking up, and see that it still points down towards the right. As do the paving slabs........Faster than a tent.......0 -
Corrected the paving slabs. Had a quick ride round the trail in Richmond Park as a shakedown. Saddle being too low is more the issue. Longer seatpost is on order though. Front of the saddle may be a touch low, but didn't worry as it will be changed when the new post is fitted. Gearing possibly a bit short, I think I went for relatively long considering what was available. The big wheels make it longer than it looks. Generally bike felt good but hard to gauge after such a short ride. Front did feel more secure, don't know how much it's down to the frame, the forks or the 15mm axle. Most likely all of the above. Best of all my first attempt at wheel building survived.0

Tried applying some FlexiCryano super glue to the hole in my GP4000 sidewall. Read instructions and carefully cut top off the bottle with a sharp. Glue spurted everywhere over my fingers and desk. Luckily didn't actually manage to stick myself to anything. What a muppet

Looks a nice bike, with the MTB doubles you seem to loose a gear either side. my 29er has 26/38 and a 11-36 which gives 20in-100in give or take but the older MTB with the triple and 22/32/44 and 11-34 is 17in-105in, I don't miss the upper end, but just occasionally on muddy rooty steep climb one gear lower would be useful. though the modern trance climbs so much better anyhow mainly by maintaining traction.0 -

http://www.buddyflaps.com/ Paid approx £15 IIRC for the plain and added some black reflective tape to the rear flap.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
i finally took a look at my front mech and found it every so slightly turned in, turned it back straight then reindex and checked the high/low screws and BOOM perfect Campag shifting in all gears again 8)Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

I caught my Campag front mech in a bad shift last year on a ride to Scarborough. It actually broke the clamp though it still shifted reasonably well! I put a new clamp on and it was sort of OK but struggled with the upshift.
After a chain swap it was even worse on upshift. So I took it off and hit the outer plate of the cage with a hammer a few times. It's fine now. I like modern precision engineering!Faster than a tent.......0 -
I have too say campag does just work, way back i had a couple of xenon 9 speed failures but that was mostly due to never cleaning it and most likely setting the cables too tight, the front mech seized and i forced the shift lever until it snapped.
I've learnt my lesson i now follow the instructions and keep my drive train clean.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Just got hypothermia cleaning my Italia and the wife's spesh. I think she has been riding it through the apocalypse. I stuck a 10 speed kmc chain on the Italia for ease of cleaning and put a speed link on the chain on the spesh so that when it is caked in whatever the hell it was caked in I can easily clean it. Two very sparkly bikes now and the Italia now has some nice elite bottle cages with a touch of red on them to further co-ordinate the frame and the red hope hubs. I am a tart.
Too cold to clean the 00 and replace its bottom bracket though- the one thing that really needed doing!RIP commute...

Got the call from my son 'my front brake is broken'. Ended up fixing his puncture, then new outers, inner wire and brake pads on front brake. New inner and brake pads on back brake. Cleaned up his manky drivetrain too.0

Amazing what a few mm can do with saddle placement and height... Fettled and cleaned over Xmas and did something... Last week kept aggravating itb and outside of left knee. Took it up a few mm and forward a few mm and this morning was much improved.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

redid the bar tape on the Felt and moved the levers up a bit, got the left one spot on, but overdid the right one... just too high so I'll need to move that down a bit this evening. Bets on me moving it too far down?Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)
