but nowhere near the lance of old

he has no acceleration on the climbs anymore

Agreed - for a guy of his age, its impressive.

+1 He's still better than 99% of the Pro tour riders. There's no way anyone can match Contador on the climbs tho.

Quite possibly rather too impressive for a guy of his age. Then again Wiggins beat him, so who knows what to think.

Wiggo has just told Ned Boulting he's aiming to podium. And why not?

    Brilliant

Contador going off the front was incredible and Wiggo's performance was great to watch.

    TDF coming alive now!

Andy Schleck made a BIG mistake. If he'd gone when he saw Contador attack, he'd likely have been with him the whole way. But when Contador attacked, Andy pulled out of line/draft and looked over at his brother, pausing for a few seconds and then realized he would have to do it alone -- too late. BIG mistake.

I found it hard to understand what Liggett and Sherwin were saying with Lance's dick in their mouths.

You mean his personality? Maybe. He's always seemed happy to do that job, first with Ullrich, then at Astana. Compare him to someone like Vino, who was always there to support Ullrich, but always made noises about riding for himself and always attacked to the detriment of his team. Kloden is the ultimate team player, but it's perhaps a shame we never got to see his full potential.

Contador is better than Lance ever was. Alberto just dominates.

Wiggins is just shocking. Impressive though, i'm happy for him, always comes across as a nice guy too.

Yes, its a shame that he wasn't closer when Bert went. Still a good effort by Andy.

No surprise here as far as Contador and Lance go - only Wiggins.

I suggest the final standings will be 1. Contador by some distance, 2. A Schleck, 3. Wiggins with LA possibly 4th.

ITV interview. Said he's going to fit a 1080 and disk for the Annecy TT. (CTT rules forbid 1080s, which he used to try and break the 10mile TT record just before the TdF, and everyone moaned at him for breaking the rules)

Agreed, but credit Contador for that - he looked across and saw that Scleck was in the wrong position. He knew Schleck was probably the only guy who could follow him and timed it to perfection.

Well now we know why wiggins lost all that weight. LOL.

BTW, Lance did an amazing ride for a 37 yr old who's been out for 3 years AND broke his collarbone not too long ago. He wasn't dropped by most of the top riders - only a select few.

Is there anything to be read into Contador not having his earpiece in for most of his attack at the end? I didn't notice when it came out.

Oh, definitely. Not taking anything away from Contador - he was amazing. And Andy should have been on his wheel anyways, but still, Andy paused for a while there, out of the slipstream, which meant he still (even from his poor position) could have bridged quickly to Contador.

    But WOW, Contador is incredible.

What remains to be seen now, though is how he does throughout the mountains. Typically, Lance gets better as the race goes on and gets harder, Contador tends to come in at peak shape and slowly drop off a littl. That could be just enough to give Andy a chance.

Problem is, Contador is just Armstrong mark II. We're gonna have another 7 years of knowing who's going to win before the tour starts.

EDIT: Also could Wiggins make up 1:40 in the time trial on Contador and get yellow? :O
