Looking back at previous stages, 14th place gets 12 points with one less point as you finish a place further back. 25th gets one point. So, still some interest there for the green jersey people

This works well for all the other GC guys. Hincapie is good enough that giving him a few minutes lead in GC could mean some trouble, so Astana's using quite a bit of energy here to pull this back. Might be a bit more tired tomorrow.

Never watched a stage live before; whats the deal with the ag2r guy in the break? Will he be trying to make a nuisance of himself to keep his man in the yellow?

Nah, he'll just sit in, not do any work and try for the stage win... AG2R will almost certainly lose yellow tomorrow.
That makes sense. I don't know what I imagined he could do to slow them down :?

AG2R back at the front driving. Strung the peleton out. Breakaway through and off.

Roche is knackered, too. All go for Rino.

It is,, but not really fast enough. They need it down to 5.5 minutes or less.

12 km to go, George still has a 1 minute buffer. Going to be very close!

Group is still 12 riders, too, but they're gonna start messing about soon.

Maskin making a move in breakaway group - raised pace of breakaway group.

LeMevel attacking with George on tail.

    Nick Roache has now attacked.

This will kill Hincapie's chances... he needs to ditch the rest and give it full gas, TT style.
  • Oh dear. Please, no victory for that T-Mobile rider that got away.

The pace is increasing in breakaway group - Hincapie touch and go for Yellow on Road, Good racing here.

Looks like Ivanov's won the stage.
  • Wonder if his old buddy Kessler's happy for him.

Such a shame they don't usually race for 200 km before holding pursuit races

    Go on Roche!
Making a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir... gently and firmly. You've got to grind your beans until they squeak.
And then you put in the milk.

Hinncapie into 2nd overall - 5 secs behind Nocentini.

Great for a 36 year old.

    LeMevel into 5th overall.
  • Nocentini keeps it by 5 seconds!
