Garmin lose three, while we have a Lance love in at the ramp.

Pate, Farrar and Dean all dropped for Garmin. Gotta say the inclusion of Pate was surprising for me.

    4 down, in fact.

What the heck is going on witth Garmin?! They're normally TTT masters! Personally, I blame the car. Apparently a couple of the drops occurred when slotting to the back and the rider mis-calculated how many guys back to drop and dropped too far back, giving a bike's length between them and they couldn't catch it again. Why didn't the car tell them when to drop back?

BTW, did anyone notice during Astana's start that Contador was the sloppiest at getting in tto line? He left a bike length between him and lance and had to bike hard to get back up there. Mentally, I think he's struggling this year.

The course seems to be catching a lot out doesn't it. Up and down, twists and turns...

Doubt it's enough to win the stage but Garmin's top 5 recovered well to get a good time at last check.

The course is surprisingly narrow. Garmin are 11 seconds up on Liquigas.

You'd think that Garmin may suffer from that later on. Leading at the second time check with only three to come through.

With a dangerous course maybe the top teams may not push it quite to the limit in order to make sure they are all there for another day?
