I think cycleclothing uk did jersey printing and the minimum order was 5 IIRC.
I'll have to check holiday availability for those dates at work now as I'd love to come along!

This is Talgarth, where we're staying, look at them hills!

the route though is impressive, there is gap that allows a larger road (which is why it's busy) to pass, on route to crickhowell etc.

would people be intrested in non cycling things as well? ie for partners? or simply days when you don't want to ride? it can get very moist back home.....

Jash, I'll ride in the foreground of that pic if that's okay :)

I second the black and white look. Or luminous lime green, purple and silver with yellow accents? Either's good.

I'll join you on the flats, Blondie.

I am considering a wicker basket as an add-on to my bike for the weekend.
Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome

that will be the tow path on the canal then! ;-)

it is a hilly area but most of the older roads aren't that steep more mini alpine like ie long rather than short and steep, though there are plenty of those around as well.

ok to show that there are easier though still nice routes how about these.

    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SCR-Gliffaes

lovely look at Llangorse lake down Bwlch, and swoop down to the Gliffaes hunting lodge for some cake and scones over looking the Usk valley. and then follow the Usk back and loop past Llangorse to Talgarth.

    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SCR-hay

next a real shorty just to hay, but hay is worth a rumage (if your into books!) and it's a nice flatish route.

    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SCR-gospel-pass

okay this is harder, but is a lovely ride, loop south to crick then take the lanes north of the sugerloaf (large hill) then heading north towards hay over Gospel Pass, i'd suggest a nice stop at Llanthony abbey lovely grounds and has pub there....

    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SCR-clydach-gorge

okay this is a hilly route, but the views are great, and plenty of places to stop. and we pass though Clydach Gorge which as well as being darn deep (nr 1000ft at it's mouth) the route goes though the edge of the Beach woods (never been cut down a very old and untaimed wood) then up over to keepers pond fantastic views as your 1500ft up at that point and in summer is a ice cream van.

    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/SCR-Usk

fed up with hills? then break out into the wider Usk valley does ramp the mileage up but nothing too steep and fairly flat route.

I'll do a map for you which will magically disappear from your back pocket just as you get to the furthest point from home. Well that always seems to happen to me with my maps any way.

A couple of those hills near Rhonda are fantastic. The Talybont road is nice and picturesque but with a short kick at the top of a good hill.

These are great, I've already programmed an identical Gospel Pass route into my GPS but will chuck the others in. I think I'll have have to pre-enter all these into the Garmin as there's no wifi at the Lodge and I don't have one of those mobile internet widgets for the laptop.

I still want to come but need to secure a dog sitter.

Although anyone who wants the extra training is very welcome to hitch a trailer to the back of their bike and tow her along with us :D

I could probably make it for the weekend as it's unlikely I'll be able to get any time off during August as it's already quite heavily booked and I'm the poor sucker who has to cover for them :-(

My thinking was head down on the Friday after work and return Sunday evening........

Trailer? Your dog needs to HTFU!

I'm away up north looking after the dog while me folks are away. Nelly is well up for some serious miles but unfortunately her preference for going mental in the woods isn't very compatible with my single gear and 23mm tyres. Fortunately she also likes going to the pub, so we at least have some common ground.

okay 100 miles gets you to bwlch mountain passing though Bwlch (village of) not terribly beautiful once past the Heads of the Valleys road (A465) as the valleys are fairly grim looking towns, but should be fairly okay roads.

I am in, if there is a place for me?

This is because I spent this weekend with my mum. Her sink started leaking and she started getting upset at the thought of having to pay a plumber bank holiday rates. So I rolled up my sleeves, unscrewed the pipe, cleared some REALLY disgusting gunk off the rubber washer that was leaking, out it all back together and hey presto it was fixed. The gunk made me want to heave, it was all hair and slime. Bleurgh.

But the moral of the story is, my mum was very grateful and said those magic words 'I owe you'.

So I said she can pay me in yet more dog-sitting so I can come on the SCR trip :D

Just spotted this. If you need any advice on the area let me know, I used to live about 2 miles outside Talgarth ( got married in the church in the pic). I know quite a bit about eating etc. down there and, of course, riding, routes etc.

    I'm very jealous!

    Alright,

so who is signed up, how much does it cost so far and how many spaces are left, if any?

Jash is on holiday - he's the man in the know... he'll be back next week.

AFAIK, there are definitely still spaces.

Come along DDD - you know you want to...

If anyone is worried about the fast brigade - I am still *suffering* with sciatica so I will definitely be a-pootling :?

assuming i make it while i do like a hill or two, i'm another pootler and to be honest any routes i plot will take in places to stop for a gin/pint/coffee etc.

iirc the place can take up to 20 so there should be spaces left, and the more that go the cheaper it becomes :lol::lol:

I'm not sure I can make the whole weekend now, something to do with the kids wanting to spend some time with me  , I can't think why. I really should try and make it down for one night to get some riding in on Sat/Sun, especially after my bold claims earlier in the thread

I am thinking of also bringing my MTB for the weekend so if anyone fancies a bit of off-roading, I am happy to join them

Road bike snobs feel free to ignore the above

Where is it your staying? Read back a few pages but didn't see!

If you're near Hay-On-Wye it is really nice - the book shops are nice, and there is a Ladies Interior Things shop which my gf loves. We drove there specially to go to it.

The whole wye valley is pretty smart. You could cycle to Hereford and shout MTFU! at the SAS. :D

At the risk of upsetting JB again  I'd definately be up for a bit of off-roading if I can get down

I am going to get hold of some routes from a friend before I come so we can decide nearer the time.

I may yet just spend the weekend lazing around in pubs......

Unfortunately some of us have a rather to large mouth (and ego)  and claims have been made that will have to be justified  , however being plied with alchohol to the point of being unable to ride may be the easy way out

@ DDD and Total, you'd both be very welcome, there are plenty of spaces.

So far those that have confirmed with me for 21-25 August are:
    James
    Jen
    Olivia
    Lewis
    Lindsey
    Ian
    Mark #2
    Attica

Can anyone else who is interested let me know via PM. Total cost is £800, divide that by the number of attendees and you have the cost per person. So £100 atm.
