But only for a maximum of 20 minutes, which is of vital importance. After that things are much, much worse.

You'll do 20.01 and then curse yourself for not having a bike that can handle going down Broomfield Hill properly...

Hmm, for some reason I was convinced this was not for another couple of weeks, but it's this weekend, yes? 18th?

I would love to come along and say hello again but my presence is doubtful, as I need to get myself and running gear and a tent  ) on a train to Kent mid-afternoon on Saturday for a race on Sunday.

Plus I'm currently sufffering with non-swine non-flu (a cold) and may need the day to get ready for the race.

Or is anyone going earlyish to get a coffee or something from the cafe before riding at 12?

Hold on. Firstly, I thought the races you do take you as far as Kent (and back), so what's this train business? Secondly, if you have a cold, you shouldn't be doing whatever madcap challenge you're planning to do this weekend. Get thee to the pub instead. :)

But this is the first ever ultra marathon I did two years ago. I have to go back for nostalgia's sake. And I've paid my entry fee. And I've bought a tent. And I'm actually quite looking forward to it.

Although as far as races go, this is one of the most monotonous - 8 laps of pancake flat marshland and farm tracks. But I need the training for my big race in August, so I'm going :P

I'll compromise and go to RP on Saturday morning - will get there early and mooch around by the cafe with whoever else is early, then do a lap at noon with whoever, then maybe back to the cafe if anyone new has arrived (Linds? When are you arriving?) then head off to my race.

It'll be fine, light showers perhaps but we'll just have to collectively M/WTFU.

I also rock the "wet skintight lycra look" really sexily. I might wear it in the shower before I come out.

I got my fill of the "wet skintight lycra look" during this years ML ride, we also added in "wet skintight lycra after a force 10 gale look" for good measure ;-)

Well, now it looks unlikely i'll make it on saturday. One of my gear cables has snapped so i've got to go up the LBS and get a replacement and fit it. I'm not exactly an early riser at the weekend - so it's unlikely i'll get it done in time for riding over to Richmond for 12.

They won't lynch you for arriving late ya know! I doubt I'm gonna be getting there much before 12 after attending the Kids Club showing of Monster Vs. Aliens at my local cinema!
