Even a week ago I thought I'd be happy with a steady 600 miles a month. Just caught myself trying to work out if I can comfortably manage 800 this month and, maybe, a 1000 next month. :?

My current tactic is to maintain a place in the top 10 WTD and let the crazy milers drag me up the table. Planned 100 mile ride on Sunday isn’t going to hurt either…
That said I’m on borrowed time in the top 30, with first baby due at the end of June… It doesn’t help that I’m still trying to fit c.18 miles of running in every week as well… something is going to give!0 -

Can you see me plan yet CP !?! 250 a week times 4 eh! when I get home tonight that'll be 195 for the WTD another 50 tomorrow and then a gentle pootle at the weekend not a care in the world might even top 300 this week

I don’t want to burn any more calories!! I’m looking too skinny already, and it’s costing me a fortune in cereal bars!
Also my wife has enforced a new rule – we have a morning weigh-in, and if I’m under 75kg I’m not allowed to cycle anymore!!!!!
This may have something to do with the fact that owing to the pregnancy our weights crossed last week for the first time!
(again owing to the pregnancy I'm keeping my mouth shut and following rules)

Looking at the board - I don;t think I can resist doing an extra 5 miles on way home tonight. - or rather 5.1.0

It won't let me update this mornign, I get the following message:

I don' even know where the New Base Miles Value is and I'm sure I haven't changed it??road0 -

You don't normally need to bother with the base miles (total for year, can be adjusted in the box below the monthly grid). Not sure what you were doing but it looks ok to me.0 -

It works fine now. Not sure what happened there, thanks thoughroad0 -
This has been my best week since July 2009 already. Extended commute in this morning - hopefully I'll do an extra 6/7 miles tonight taking me to about 185; 30 miles on Saturday and 40 on Sunday. Then I'll be done and well on my way to 800 for month.0

Good going Porgy; a bit of an increase compared to last year when I was hounding you around 20th place.
I've managed three consecutive days this week for the first time since last summer, and am feeling it a bit now. I was going to give it 4 or 5 miles this morning and then give it up as a bad job, but you know how it is - couldn't bring myself to give up. That's another 41 miles today then.0 -
thanks so much for setting all this up
Ive got a traget of 6000 miles to do by the end of November and this is giving me extra motivation
Got around 40ish miles to do today and then depending what time I get up for work tomorrow hopefully at least another 25 which will give me my highest ever weekly total and actually more than jan, feb and march combined last year due to illness0 -
27 for me this morning and another 30+ on the way home. Might be able to get out for 15 or 20 on Saturday (don't want to push my luck with SWMBO) but have a 60+ planned with the club on Sunday :
Need to get some serious mileage in next week as wk comm 22nd after I'm away in Germany for 4 days.
I am genuinely contemplating whether I could get my bike on the plane : that's how mad these wretched stats are driving me .....

CiB wrote:Good going Porgy; a bit of an increase compared to last year when I was hounding you around 20th place.
Last year I was annoyed that due to not having clocked up the miles in Jan, feb, March I had absolutely no chance of getting anywhere near the top - though I think both of us nudged the top ten for a day or two at one point.
So for this year I reckoned a solid 600 a month was easily doable and would certainly keep me near the top.
then everyone upped their game as well - I was lucky in Jan and Feb in that I sort of had a head start with the snow and that - but now definitely need to do something - so reckon 800 miles months are necessary.
I'm wondering now if it will nearly kill me like it did last July. :?0
