Silly Commuter Stats

I've added mine in. Somehow I am even closer to the bottom of this list than I was on the previous one and I've done 100+ miles in the past week. Grrr.0
-
oops, I've just credited myself with an extra 80 miles, which is roughly what I've done this week, but my total should read 780 not 860. How do I undo that?0

I think (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an IT guru like the rest of you) that this is a good system, but we can't include backdated monthly mileage splits - eg April miles - without it adding on to the YTD total we already entered. Is that right?
Correct.
But you can ask CinB to change your backdated amount (like he did for me ).
It could mean admin effort on CinB for the future though...Giant Escape R1

Or maybe we just start the monthly splits from mid-may... I like this one because my work net nanny doesn't block it...0 -
Can we have an extra option for the PF column so we can just insert an "x"? Inserting a number risks incurring the wrath of the PF, which means I will have to burn some pencil sharpenings/shavings as a sacrific.
Does this mean we're done with the list? What happens if we lose the figures or the host site is closed? (I speak as someone who hasn't the first idea what you IT chaps have done.)FCN 2-4.

No offence meant, but your site seems to be a completely over engineered solution to a problem that never existed

I'm updating both, mainly because only early adopters have added themselves to CinB's site!

I have shamed myself 0 miles still this week but never fear brake SCRers & co i've laid out my cycling kit (Castelli) for tomorrow and I will be riding in regardless of weather, my London leg might be a little slower than normal as it'll be my first time Waterloo to Kings Cross and i'm seriously out of practice stop/starting at lights.
Plus I'll be hugely under geared tomorrow, spin city for me gutted my new bike is all here but needs putting together and I don't have time tonight, my CX bike rear wheel is in the LBS

You're right LiT. You tell it how many miles you started with, then just add trips. That was the plan, but I had an idea that it would need a correction option, so...Shoulder of Orion wrote:oops, I've just credited myself with an extra 80 miles, which is roughly what I've done this week, but my total should read 780 not 860. Revisit it. There's now an update link next to your YTD figure that allows you to change the running YTD value to a value that you want it to be. Yes - you can promote yourself to be top of the leaderboard.WheezyMcChubby wrote:@ CinB

I work in IT, so I'll take that as a compliment 8) - over-engineered, unnecessary, utterly pointless ulitmately and yes - a solution to a non-existent problem, other than me having a couple of evenings on my hands and no-one in the house except for a sleeping 7 year old. But an interesting exercise - I've never used PHP before.
Seems to be a broadly positive reaction to it so far - thanks for that. TBH I didn't fancy spending a week knocking up a fully functioning professional web site and then finding out that there was only me on the leaderboard, so I didn't. I'll look at tidying it up and adding more added value to the core data as times goes on, when time allows.
Boy is out of hospital now though so it's back to normal.
Cheers all. Keep using it.

SO WE'RE ALL USING CHRIS'S PROGRAM NOW RIGHT?
If so, can everyone update it? And can Chris correct my May total back to 181 cos I buggered it up0 -
Just added myself onto the list. I've had to do an educated guess for Jan and Feb stats, but it can;t be too far out. I was only cycling in one day a week in January, then in February I got up to two days a week. I was pretty unfit - used to a 5 mile commute I was suddenly doing a 30 miles round trip.
In March and April I'm pretty much up to 5 days a week solid now - only occasionally jumping ont he train, and the odd ride at the weekend.
I've surprised myself at the total though (1360). No wonder I'm knackered all the time.0 -
My name's down.
No data until late April due to lack of computer and sporadic commuting mixed with uncounted off road miles.
So, does off road mileage count double?0 -

Looks like the Google spreadsheet's been taken down so I guess we are. I've loaded my figures on the new site but don't know my month stats without going through my records again.
Failed miserably to hit my expected 250 this week. ITB's rain dance and the fact that I stupidly failed to dress appropriately meant that I called it a day after 50 miles today, so only 189 miles this week. But hit 3000 for the year. Trying to organise a ride down to Dorset next weekend... That would be 100 at leastBike1

The spreadsheet is still there, I on the other hand couldn't be arsed to battle the gale force winds this weekend and choose beer & boating on the Thames very nice it was too

The forecast for early to all of next week is the same heavy rain & gale force winds here i'm now FCUKED OFF  with this CRAP, just over two years i've lived here and the weather has been pants the whole time, I had no idea 50mph wind was such a regular occurrence in the south.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Can't see a link between those in your other post, but it's late on a Sunday...
New users need to add themselves otherwise we end up with people on the list who don't realise it so never update their figures.0 -
Chris, I think you overcorrected me! As a result, of course, I have gone to the site and corrected myself wrongly, so the YTD number is now correct but the month is wrong - should be 217...0

We're too busy riding to add our huuuge mileage to the database? Anyhow my name can be take off the mia list, how do I correct the previous/current months totals?I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
redvee wrote:...how do I correct the previous/current months totals?
To add miles click your name, which is a link to the add stats page. Select the relevant w/c from the drop down and enter the miles you want to log. Whatever miles you log are added to the YTD mileage.
If the YTD figure is wrong follow the link to the correction page to change it.
I haven't added a page to remove specific entries, but it looks as though I'll need to. In the meantime, leave a request on here for updates and I'll correct it as & when.0
