What period are we working on for WTD? I count mine from Mon to Sun, and am updating my stats on Sun evening.

Couldn't we put a link to the spreadsheet on a 'sticky' and have it on the top of the forum? That'd make it easier for newcomers to get into it, rather than trawling through the old posts for the link.

Most of us go for Mon - Sun though there are some strange soles that use different starts. I think ITB was asked to include the link in his initial post but he can't work this out.

Whilst the bike was in dock over the last couple of days and boy elder has been cooped up in hospital having his appendix out, I thought we should have a nicer way of tracking SC Stats so I've put together a pretty simple web page or two to do it. Genuine apologies to ITB for stepping on his toes with this brazen attempt to steal his thunder but this makes it a bit easier to manage, and looks a bit nicer than a POS*.

Here it is - SC Stats.

Add yourself to the Stats Index, then click each hyperlink to do things. It's self-explantory...

I've hosted it on a spare domain that's never been used - if it dies the death then errr... ho hum, otherwise let's see where it goes. One thing I have noted is that it's a bit slow to respond sometimes. I'll chase the hosting people to see why.

Feel free to request features, improvements & suggestions or just to hurl abuse at it. The most obvious thing I can think of is a bare-bones page showing the top 10 + yourself for ease of copy / paste into this here thread. Maybe this evening, depending on things...

    All yours.

It is on first use adding your own details but then it's just a case of hitting your own name's link and adding more miles from then on. Well done on being first tho. :)

I must admit it does take a lot longer and is a lot more fiddly than the spreadsheet. Plus when you make a mistake it's much more difficult to fix. I put in my YTD including April & May, then added the weekly mileage, and it double counted.

Simple mistake, but can't fix it now (or can't be bothered to try). Good idea though CinB :)

Owing to ITB being the originator, I will bow to his will on what he would prefer.

    Oh.

In my mind it was pretty straightforward - add your name, how many miles so far and optionally tyre choice + PF count, then from then on just add more miles via your user name when it suits.

Let's give it a go - R TA I'll adjust your numbers later on. Can't do it from work unfortunately.

Colours - yeah. Subjective I suppose. I copied a bit of CSS from somewhere and thought it looked a bit trendy with those values. Up here in Bumpkinsville it could be considered a touch avant garde y'know. Feel free to suggest a nicer combination. Pls supply the hex colour codes in advance... :)

Deliberate act. I wanted to be able to gauge the uptake, not have a grid full of data and then spend a week or two wondering who had stumbled across it. Clearly yours should have been tho as the originator and instigator of SC Stats (c) 2009. Humblest apologies.

I work in IT, so the spec will follow. At least it'll be correct, with the final deliverable matching said spec. And better still, it works exactly as coded. What more could a user want? What's that? Input into the design stage? Pull the other one. :P

    OK, complete change of heart.

Went to sheet this morning to add in my mileage, typed in how many miles I've done since last update, and voila - all updated. Plus the refresh was significantly quicker than previously.

Plus thanks for correcting my figures CinB - I am converted

    OK, so...

I think (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an IT guru like the rest of you) that this is a good system, but we can't include backdated monthly mileage splits - eg April miles - without it adding on to the YTD total we already entered. Is that right? or have I just not found how to do that?
