impressive stuff Liv how are you clocking up such mileage in this weather?

Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.

First miles logged for the year. Going for a respectable mid-table this year, hoping to get 3,000ish miles.

    Oh, actually...do touring miles count?

Oh gawd I'm blonde... I keep messing this up and not entirely sure how.

FWIW I have done 127 miles so far this year - I seem to have 140 on the system - sorry - if someone can tell me how to set it right, that'd be marvellous. I've clicked on my name and pressed delete by lots of stuff but it doesn't seem to have worked.

    Ooops.
The deletes thing doesn't seem to update correctly; gawd knows why and I've worked it through enough times. I'll have another go one evening.

In the meantime, go to the page and enter what you know to be your total mileage in the Update Totals miles box and update it manually. That'll put you on the right course.

ITB - agreed, fully. Rollers & turbo miles don't count. It's about being out on the bike. If you can't get out because of the snow etc, tough. Join the club. I'm tearing my hair out dropping down the league; even Porgy's beating me by a mile.

Yes but NOT TURBO miles

@CiB I suspect there are some who'll be using you site and not have read the 'Rules' perhaps a little notice on the new trip page?

    Perhaps?

Lots of layers and just getting out there - weather's not as extreme in london as it is in the sticks, I'm sure! Also I have the incentive / fear of HOTA and not wanting to be last or cry.
  • and yes Itboffin, agree that a refresh of The Rules would be v.handy.

I have included a sunday ride as well as commuting to work - should it just be commuting to work miles?

There is no shame in being last and no one can see you cry in a blizzard

This is pretty much the weather me and Linsen rode in last year, so I guess it's good practice. :D

Nope all 'real' cycling whatever the type of ride just not indoor boring gym, turbo, roller, spinning etc etc. that's just boring, might as well be watching TV :D

Rules? There are rules??? I didn't know.

As some one who does about 30 miles a year communiting (I work at home), and has been including his indoor miles, I suppose I have no right to use the spreadsheet.

Therefore would you delete me please CiB. :(

(Great piece of kit CiB however).

Rollers, boring? Goodness. You must be MUCH better at them than me. I have to focus like hell just to stay on the damn things!

Don't be like that, add your road miles and use it as a motivator to do more, perhaps pop out at lunch time or before/after work, go on..... feel the wind in your hair :P

I do just the commute bike mainly so I can just check the milage on the bike. so its really easy. no having to work out milages etc.

does mean I my total is a lot less than It would as I don't count the odd 50+ fun rides or MTB etc.

    but it makes life simple.

Sorry if I came over all silly like but I don't want to break any rules: written or otherwise.

If its okay to record my leisure rides and the trips to the Station I do, then I am happy to do so. (its not like I am going to get into the top 40 now is it!!!!)

As for feeling the wind in my hair....sob....I wish I had some left.

 And I thought I was doing some training for the HOTA! Last place beckons.
  • That and the orca to slap you boys into shape I can't wait to hear of the tales :D

Its the disarming, "I don't do much and I'm not as good a cyclist as you big boys [but I do more miles in a day that you do in a week]"

If you want to see what counts as a trip - check out CJ's ride types :D I was quite amused and pondering adding more for comedy value... I won't don't worry.

maybe you don't cycle the most eh?

Maybe if you put the rules and instructions at the start of this thread as well... that might help

I thought about the train this morning but thought that's 26 precious miles lost MTFU

I think Stats should be closed to new entrants at the end of the week on the basis that anyone who is so soft that the weather is keeping them off the bike doesn't deserve to be on it (their bike or the SCS)
