You really aiming for 960 miles this month? Go to it... :)

Apparently so! I totted up the figures on the calculator based on expected weekly mileage plus the Tour of the Black Mountains and a couple of other weekend rides and was left with that figure. Didn't think it would be that high, but I sort of have to aim for 1,000 now, don't I? :)

Jonny Fortnight and Graeme T - give me a frickin' chance here, I'm off on paternity leave for a fortnight! (though I have just put a new chain on, hoping to take the eldest out in his child seat to rack up some miles!) Got to get back into the top 40...

Another boy! Not sure I've slept enough to wheel the bike out today, but need to make sure my new chain isn't going to slip (the old one was over 1% worn, but thought I'd try it anyway as the sprockets and chainrings look good), so sticking 11kg of 19 month old on the back and riding up some big hills should be a good acid test!

Agreed. Fitting a new chain is both satisfying and worthy of praise from fellow cyclers. Well done on the new sprog too whilst we're at it.

Just upped mine to 700, what with the schools breaking up next week, the bike being in good shape and the legs gobbling up the miles these days. Reckon I've passed through the Kieran Burns' "when did that happen then?" epiphany moment in the recent past - it's all just that much easier, speed and distance, almost all of a sudden. 8)

Chris, did you delete my 80085? Considering it's a column of utter arbitrariness I don't see why it's less valid than anyone else's!

(of course it's possible I deleted it and completely forgot  )

Yeah I did - was hoping you wouldn't spot it tbh. There's arbitrary and outright silly. and you probably did say boobs anyway for all I know. :)

I took it out because it made the place look untidy, if truth be told. The target column isn't an arbitrary column anyway; it's to give those who can't manage 14000 miles per week a chance to hit the top, by coming closest to their predicted target. In that sense it's... ok, arbitrary, but it's a bit more interesting than tyres. If you think you'll only do 8 miles in July and you do 8, you might be top of the tree come month end. I'll be in France by then so won't really bother with it, and it'll have rolled over into August by the time I get back

Feel free to reinstate your 80085. I'll just chunter quietly at it, along with errant apostrophes and comedy grammar that pops up too often on here. We need a 'Gawd it makes my blood boil when...' thread.

    aarrggh!

    What's happened.

Suddenly I'm out of the top 40 and down to 42.

Only 3 miles behind m0scs though. Maybe I should pop out now. My boss isn't at his desk. I'm sure I could get away with it.

    Long way home tonight anyway.

Salsajake - are you back from your 'holiday' now, or do I still have time to build a gap :?:

I'm looking at one more good week this month. Got a week off the bike while on hols. Got another 10 days off in August. So I think my days (minutes?) on top are numbered.

Reckon this is my stage-win. I'm on the podium with The Badger. But the GC is not looking so good.

Fat Kid signed up then disappeared. His mile was added by someone else, who spotted the lack of security and sent me a PM saying 'is this right?'. It is - I can't be bothered to build in logging in, cookies, session handling etc unless I really have to.

Well done Porgy. I would have biked in today and added another 42 but Plan B fell into place. Looks like another 3-day week here then, so not much chance of improving or catching you.

I've just been working out my mileage for the week - my mileometer broke on the Dynamo after 41 miles. The 330 was a conservative guess - I'm already up to 353 miles now - likely to wind up at about 370 I reckon.

I thought I'd be a bit knackered after all that cycling - but legs still seem to be working and knee is intact - so I reckon I should now revise my July target upwards to 800.

No, it's okay, I would feel exactly the same! I am sad the tyres column has disappeared, though.

Also, I can't fit 8008135, you only allow 5 figures.

Seconded. Though I am back on the fixie, which Holdsworth sorted out incredibly quickly and cheaply! I love them!
