This is from (near) Penistone towards Barnsley (thanks KB  )
Love riding down to Silkstone/Dodworth on that route, nice rolling roads/scenery then jump on the TPT back from Dodworth to Silkstone
I love living out here
We are lucky I agree ...started a new route recently, and part of it is from the Holandswaine roundabout down to Cannon Hall, it's called Renald Lane and it's a fantastic road. Definitely worth a go if you haven't already tried it.0 -

Gave it a try today, nice route accross to the Sculpture Park 8) although there is quite a large pothole on one of the left hand bends near the start of Renald Lane and I didnt see it with the shade from the trees and my sunglasses on, gave me quite a fright0 -

Bit too close for comfort this one but my positioning could have been better to start with.

One advantage of living in a more rural area, when the weathers nice plenty of alternative routes.

Is that roundabout the sole cause of that tailback? Is it the same roundabout where the accident was in another of vids?
Are those pavements or shared use footpaths? Didnt see any signs for the latter?Invacare Spectra Plus electric wheelchair, max speed 4mph0 -

Bit harsh I feel. Possible she went past the lights at amber 9or even green if she was pootling) then realized her mistake and stopped at the actual junction.
Bus went through at red, almost without question. She was VERY lucky, and I'm sure she'll never make that mistake again.0 -
Been using a different route in recently...this particular day (last Monday 25/06) I had the wind behind me, the road was almost dry, my legs were "full"... I only wish my GPS had not been out of order as I'm sure I'd have got some good times in....http://youtu.be/ukcq8WjV4z8
Please ignore the time code, it was actually about 06.45, oh and sorry it's so noisy0 -

Can't see what the problem is there. He was already pulling out , you couldn't be arsed to slow down and then instead of just carrying on you decided to turn around and confront him. Just because you have a camera?0

I agree that he didn't see you, most drivers on those types of roads don't, I know because I spend a lot of my commute on residential double parked roads like that, visibility is **** poor and everybody is off guard on their home stretch opening doors without looking because they haven't heard a car etc.
And here is the clue just before you get your head down...even if he is not moving, a car in that position at that distance was worth a heads up and a slowing down for, in my opinion, not getting my head down.

Not sure what the problem is guys? I saw he was there before my head went down and I saw he was pulling out as soon as I looked up - there was space to get through so I carried on and I was happy to make nothing of it despite him being the one that didn't look properly and pulled out on me. I stopped because he beeped and I'm always happy to stop and talk to car drivers who shout abuse/beep etc. There was only 1 person being confrontational...FCN 2 to 80

I thought about this cycling in this morning and it really does take two people to be confrontational. IMHO (as ridiculous as he was being) you should've just ridden away and left him steam.
There would be no confrontation if you had not stopped.
Clearly the guy was a selfish little twonk and got all uppity because you invaded HIS space, but ultimately there was no real reason for you to stop.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Fair point, I don't really agree but fair enough. I would have stopped with or without the camera though, that wasn't a factor when I decided to turn around.FCN 2 to 80 -

Mr Plum, I wanted to apologise and say that my judgemental reply to your video didn't account for those days when things just aren't right for whatever reason, maybe the red mist descends and things take their course. I'm no saint when it comes to calling a driver something nasty after feeling endangered, especially without having the time to analyse the situation like I did by watching a video of it.
I personally think it is because many drivers don't know how it feels to be near naked apart from a helmet, traveling at speed and close to dangerous and heavy machinery like cars and buses. And that's what causes us cyclist to see more danger in the situation than a motorist. We have statistically less collisions with vehicles than vehicle to vehicle, but the outcomes are much worse. And the funny thing is, that us cyclists have probably taken many more frequent knocks, bruises, grazes, heart stopping near misses than the average driver that endangers us through neglectful un-alert driving. For many drivers a broken nail from the gear lever is the most distressing incident on a commute. Numbed by a loud stereo, a mobile and ten airbags and a sense of immortality at non-motorway speeds, this can distract a driver from their most important job.
But I will say the one thing in the drivers mitigation was that he was taking it slow, I do agree he put you in danger, but I can see how it could have been much worse if said driver was one of those all-to-common drivers that gamble blind junctions and take them at speed because no cars can be obviously heard or seen, but forgetting about cyclists and motor cyclists.
And still, it's a good video from any perspective, and this is what this thread is all about.FCN=10 Carrera Subway II with touring kit = rack, 2x Panniers and a bottle.

I do agree he put you in danger
How? He was driving slowly, the cyclist made no attempt to slow down and decided for what ever reason to go through a small gap. He was five car lengths away when the merc had started to pull out into a narrow street caused by parked cars.0 -

Yep I did agree that the driver was being slow in his defence, maybe I was being too remorseful :?: Given the type of junction, the driver probably would have had to cross the cyclists path to be able to look properly at that type of junction given the length of car in front of the driver. The cyclist, Mr Plum, ideally should have adjusted speed according to conditions, yes I won't back track on that, but the driver had a choice to stop upon seeing the cyclist and obstructing the path anyway or continuing. Not sure myself but it is between the motorist seeing the cyclist and cracking on thinking he'll be out of the way in time causing less obstruction, or not seeing the cyclist at all.
But I'm sticking to my guns and I think the driver did see Mr Plum and took the chance (i.e. possibly dangerous as opposed to technically correct stopping) to be out of the way in time, expecting you to chill a little with your speed to compromise.FCN=10 Carrera Subway II with touring kit = rack, 2x Panniers and a bottle.
