That's shocking - you let the other two cyclists get away from you. Also I'd report the motorcycle to roadsafe.

Whoa, that made me jump... Crazy riding.

I've had some really good rides since my knee got better (MTB flint-related unscheduled dismount), but tonight wasn't one of them. Now it's warm drivers have their windows open, too. http://youtu.be/o0E-zQMMnGY

Ahh name, your videos make me laugh name. Why do you try to antagonise these drivers with all of your ranting and raving? Why not just shake your head quietly and get over it? Next video please. :)

i don't know where you cycle but it can't be london, you wouldn't last 5 mins getting peeved off with every single car that comes a bit close. and whats with stopping at the end of that vid? i don't understand why you weren't looking over your shoulder, anticipating them slowing down then blasting down the outside?

As you might have guessed from the tag on the video, it's Brighton. Whilst it's not quite as hectic as London I'm quite used to riding in rush-hour traffic and I've not seen regular 30cm-or-less overtakes pass without comment from any of the helmet-cammed London cyclists either. I was more annoyed that the overtake was *completely and utterly pointless* as well as close.

I often do filter at that point at the end. Didn't that day as I'm just getting my fitness back and you need your wits about you in the RAB (Seven Dials, for those that know it) that's 30m away at the top of the hill. If I wasn't looking over my shoulder and planning ahead, you'd never have seen the Merc, though...

The guy on the motorbike really should be wearing full body leathers!

It will be easier to collect the body parts together when he eventually self-deletes :D

The second half of my commute... first mile or so at normal speed then sped up to 4x ....nothing exciting just a nice spring morning ride.

You've done my fave trick of not renaming the video from the file name :)

Thought it looked familiar, i have friends who live near Thurgoland, must have driven that road a few times. Did ride through there on the TransPennine trail back in 2001 en route from Southport to Hornsea (see avatar, me on beach at Hornsea)

They resurfaced the road between East Leake and Bunny - 3/4 of a mile of the smoothest road....

    http://youtu.be/aGo7PFk_vUQ?hd=1

It was terrible (ish) before: the verge had collapsed and a lorry had gone off. This was the reason why we had to learn how to climb Bunny hill... it was definitely worth it!

Lovely smooth road that, long may it last!

As it's been the school holidays, which are sadly coming to an end, I posted a comparison of traffic when it's term time and when it's not - http://youtu.be/Oz3zeQiKtU8 - And drivers thing we slow them down.

Also had a nasty HGV overtake by a driver who turned out to be on the phone - http://youtu.be/wpsWia5uwCM

    Hello from Bangkok, Thailand,

This is my first post on Bikeradar.com.

Bangkok is one of the worsts in term of road cycling safety, but It's exciting to ride like you are in war. And I am addicted to it.

Obtaining a driving license in Thailand is very easy, driving without license is even easier.
You may find 14-year old speedy kid behind the wheel and even more crazy adults driving like kids.

This is an easy morning ride from home to work. It's 21 km on MTB!!? Yes! MTB with suspension fork and 26x2.1 knobby tyres.
The road and traffic condition here is unpredictable, you may be squeezed out of the road anytime, so MTB is the best bet in Bangkok.

The clip was shortened from 46 mins to 12 mins, recorded with helmet mounted GoPro HD.

If you feel whirly after watching this, cycling a few kilometers may help.

    Enjoy :)

How come all the pavement is non flexible? Deep tropical weathering?

If so, are most of your houses built on raft/'floating' foundations?

Sorry for the aside, just interested!

    It mostly depends on fund.
There are many roads with asphalt pavement but they also have reinforced concrete foundation underneath.

Bangkok City locates on plane near river delta with generally soft soil and aquifer.
Most permanent structures are supported on deep foundation.

Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

In my experience it doesn't occur to peds that there might be anything there if they can't hear any engine noise.

There's a pedestrian-heavy stretch of my commute where I've long resigned myself to pootling along at sub-walking pace because people just step of the kerb to cross the road without looking up or even breaking stride. Most of them then proceed to jump out of their skin if/when they notice that I'm there. It's not that they're in any danger, because I know they're there and have modified my speed and course accordingly, I think it's just the instinctive "Oh shit!".

My mate has ingeniously mounted an IPod to his helmet (I have a shot & post later) and filmed the commute in this morning.

As I tend to lead most of the way, I finally got to see myself while cycling, and came to some conclusions:

    1. I need to up the brightness on the Vision 1 to setting 3, setting 1 isn't really enough
    2. The District 3 is INSANELY bright - even on the 'low' setting
    3. I need to lose some weight. Watching the vid has made me realise I have FOUR chubby cheeks
    4. My calves are huge.
    5. It really looks like my saddle is low, but it's far too comfortable at the moment...
    6. The seals are now immortalised....

(edited to add a small section of the vid)

Couple of lowlights from my recent commuting adventures:

    Close pass by WVM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBExZY4i5uQ

Lost my rag a little bit with that one.

Even closer pass and cut up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buS5lYQ6SL4

In a way it's really quite impressive that he managed to fit his car in that space and manoeuvre to the left without knocking me off!

I'm not saying that those videos show acceptable driving, but if I were you I would reconsider the number of shoulder checks and my positioning on the road.
In the second one I don't think there was a shoulder check before you drifted to the right. A check, then signal and moving right over to the middle of the offside lane would have been safer.

I would prescribe you some better signalling and road positioning and some CTFD, ride zen.
