diff ppl have diff opinions on dalby,it is good if you havent been before,me and giggsmaster dont mind going there,we can go maybe a couple ot times a month, then not go for 6 months,we like to make up a ride using os maps on moors or peaks, and ride naturally stuff,it is good tho dont get me wrong, and if you can get there with sumone who knows it well, you can ride parts of the trails not marked on the map you can get from the visitor centre.0 -

Hi All,
I know, I know, long time no speak! Been busy at work and then holidays etc etc!
Not really been out on the old bike much recently what with holidays and having to house/dog sit. Managed to get out for a local ride a few weeks back. Took Matt along too see that its not all totally flat around Hull! ha ha! Then we went to Cornwall for a week minus the bikes as we don't have the van at the moment. So wish I had my bike there with me though, sooo much stuff to ride. We did get out last weekend to the peak for a 25 mile ride round ladybower and derwent. Was really tough on the climbs as I am really lacking fitness at the mo but the downhills were awesome! Broke a spoke on one of them though so had to take it easy for the rest of the ride
Is the Walna Scar Road trip this weekend? Wish I could make it but got family stuff on, hiping to get out to Dalby maybe one day for a blast around though.
Giggs - the new bike looks sweet!! How are you enjoying the extra travel? An extra inch or two really makes a difference doesn't it?
MattHarper - Congrats on the job! You'll be perfectly placed for some excellent riding down in Bristol! Enjoy!
Hopefully I will be able to get out again with you all at some point, I miss all the banter!
Hello to the newbies too Welcome!delightfully dangerous!0 -

yep sure is myself/giggs and dave(biggus) going, might be meeting up with 2 lads who live over that way,who where doing coast-coast same time as bro was.
and dont know if you can make it or not,but planning a ride on 19th sept,a send off ride for mr harper before he goes down to bristol, made it a sunday so hopefully can get a few ppl off here out with us0 -
DanielleT wrote:Giggs - the new bike looks sweet!! How are you enjoying the extra travel? An extra inch or two really makes a difference doesn't it?
Our lass says the extra inch or so has definitely made a difference...
(Sorry, I couldn't resist....!!)
Nah, it does feel smoother on the DH's and you can hit them at a bit more speed. Like I say though, we will see what this weekend brings in the Lakes...0 -
hi guys i just bought a road bike
i know i shouldn't but road bikes they are evil but i like it
just done bridlington and back and i am now shagged
have a good ride tomorrow
giggs don't forget to take a cloth with you to clean your bike as soon as you get it mucky0 -

I bet she does! ha ha!
Yep downhills are so much better with a bit of travel, I now want a DH bike as that makes proper DHing so much more easier!
Hope you all have a smashing ride tomorrow, want to see some good pics
Altern - Not sure what i'm doing that weekend yet but if i'm around i'll defo be up for a fairwell ride.delightfully dangerous!0 -

sorry danielle,no pics from today(walna scar ride),weather was horrible, only time we was stopped was when it was raining, and i mean raining
walna scar ride........think of the hardest ride you have done, and times it by at least 10(for me anyway),thats what the walna scar ride was like, still enjoyed it tho, great banter from all, just dont try to ride it with youre front suspension only giving you about 100mm travel(like mine was),and youre brakes fading on the downhill off walna scar .....13 miles in about 5 and half hours(just over a hour of pushing bikes up the 2 miles of walna in torrential rain, and hiding behind a wall for 15 mins).........just like to thank giggs/biggus and the 2 lads who we met up with, for waiting for me on the downhill sections....would i do it again, yes, but only if i was staying in lakes :oops:0 -
Yeah, was a great ride, i say ride and not the dirty great hike we did up walna scar. Pity about the rain though.0
-
It was a good ride yesterday, looks like we have brought some of the weather over with us. Today would have been a good day to ride, looks quite dry in the Lakes....
Shame about the rain, but still enjoyed the ride out. It is a gruelling push up Walna Scar but the DH on the other side is worth the effort. The new bike handled the rough stuff with ease and tackled the ascents very well.
How's the legs Dave, are you able to stand up....?
And what's this Simon, a bloody road bike.....0 -
Suprisingly there ok, took a walk into town tday, never made it into town last night haha.
I noticed you smashed the DH's with the extra 40mm... hows your leg?
I'll whack up the only 2 pics i got today aswell
Edit: here they are
Hole in the ground with lots of water/rain
Looking back up where we've come

GUNNERSIDE RIDE.........
starting at gunnerside/reeth in yorkshire dales on sunday 19 sept,be looking at round the 25 mile mark....route as shown below in giggsmaster's post....this will be matt harpers last official ride with us,as he is moving down south, everyone welcome to join us,new and old.0 -

Aye the leg is ok, the scabs are stating to fall off now, so should be able to top up my tan...
As for the route for the ride on the 19th September, I have just put this together starting in Reeth, Yorkshire Dales.
Reeth, Melbecks & Gunnerside
Its a 25 mile ride, with some good ups and downs. Only small parts of it I have rode so alot of it will be a ride into the unknown, so it could be a long day, be prepared....
So, what do you think then Matt?
Like our kid said before, anyone and everyone is welcome.0 -
Sorry everyone, but I'm now starting my new job a week earlier (on the 20th) this means i wouldn't be able to join you all on the ride (i'll be moving down on the Sat (18th).
Also with now having sold my bike frame, im also unable to ride anything for a while!
So,
I would like to thank everyone who i have been riding with over the last few years! Cheers for the laughs, the falls, the friends and the great rides. Made some great friends and have a amazing time out on the bike with you all. (even Jacobs ladder on my tank wasn't too bad )
I'm sure this won't be the last, as i'll be popping home every now and again. For all those that would like to keep in touch and aren't on my facebook or twitter, feel free to PM me and i'll give you the links.
Cheers!Yorkshire Man living in Somerset
