I would love to but looks like I'm going to have to take my bike into the shop for a warranty repair. After a ride today I was about to clean the bike and what I think is the rear shock seal seems to be splitting and coming away from the main can and it's only six weeks old.

link to not a very good pic, what you think?

Yeah it looks like the seal is failing, I presume it feels soft to sit on?
If you get it fixed in time, come along!

it doest feel too bad, but if there is a risk of it going to fail I would rather not be riding it.

I'll give KE a call tomorrow and see if I can get it sorted.

I'll sort out my hard tail and take that if, I cant get the shock sorted in time.

its upto you if you can make it,have to meet up one day for a ride, lol

if anyone else for that matter fancies a ride give me or giggsmaster a shout.....

Well the shock has to go back to mojo, busy day sorting out the hard tail cleaned out the headset, replaced the bottom bracket, cassette and chain, just hope I can sort out the gears now (sticking on the down shift).

then I'll go out tomorrow for a local ride and test it all out.

If you have someone to go that has a bike that's guaranteed to be working take them, dont let me mess you about then have to cancel because I can't get my bike ready.

arrange with Rory your plans, on sat afternoon/ evening if a space is still available email me details and I'll confirm if i can make it, basically use me as a back up.

on sat I'll go out about 10:00 am I'll be back around 2pm so I should know by then if its gonna be ok or bloody nightmare.

I really do apologise for messing you about like this

    email Barkey52(nospam)@hotmail.com

    remove (nospam)

I'm defiantly not out this sunday, the middle chain ring has taken to old chian like a duck to water, soon as I got to boothery road point the bike up the Hill put any power down the chain just slipped/jump or came off I think I got about 50 meter from the house before I turned around.

Also I'll have to replace the rear dérailleur and pods just flat out refusing to shift down no matter what I do.

if you do decide to go next week fingers crossed I'll have my other bike back fully serviced and ready to go.

I've got two bikes and I cant ride either how depressing is that and its really nice day as well.

The Trek Remedy purchase has had to be put on hold for a while now, remember me havin problems with the car.....well i decided to scrap it and buy a new one. 09 plate so not all bad news :D

Hey Barkey if you get your bike on the mend before next sunday drop me a line. Live on Victoria Street in Hessle so if you like i can give you a lift to kingswood to meet up with the others.

yeah, that would be great rory, I'm thinking of sticking SLX gears on to the hardtail which I'm not looking forward to because I've never been able to do gears and merlin have a cheap set of chainrings for 40 quid, which I'm going to give a shot because shimano middle ring is 30quid on its own.

But hopefully Mojo wont be too long with the rear shock and then I can take the full sus on sunday instead, then Rory you can give my bike a test ride 8)

btw what car did you buy?

Morning Shaun, what size are you - what size bike do you take?

Surely you could get to Dalby on your moped?

York is a little out the way for us to come over!

So did anyone get out at the weekend then?

Me and Altern8 went upto the Moors for a good blast. Got the OS Map in hand and sampled a few of the trails up there, also pinched a bit of a route from the lads at www.mtbe.co.uk

Started in a village called Church Houses, deep in a valley. So the only way out was up!! Steep ascent, but luckily it was on tarmac. After a good bit of bridleway for 8 mile we hit a nice rocky downhill into Baysdale Abbey, it was very fast and bumpy. Next was another uphill, but again, it was on tarmac. This took us to Cleveland Way and then down Ingleby Bank, fast singletrack. We rode along the valley, getting our breath back as we knew what was coming up. It was the infamous Incline, we had only read about this on another forum.

It looked like it was going to eat us alive.... So, off we rode. It was hard going, especially in the heat out of the shadows of the trees. We managed, slowly but surely to the gate halfway up, took in a few big gulps of air and motored on. We made it to the top, only just, it is one hell of a climb. Enjoyable though, in a sadistic way....

We rode some more flowing bridleway along to Bransdale and took in another rocky and steep descent back to the car, hitting a nice 38mph on the way down. Overall, a good ride. Just over 22miles in 2hrs 45mins.

Looking to do another on the Moors on Friday 27th, dependent on weather and if I can get off work. So, if anyone wants to join us, let us know.

Im around 5ft 9". don't usually mind what bike as long as its good (unlike mine), 26" wheels etc

And on a moped at 40ish flat out would definately take a long time. what route do you go, could try to meet you on your route somewhere?

I'm always up for a ride just having a lot of bad luck at the moment, being ill that turned out to be that virus and took me out for nearly 3weeks then both my bikes go kaput on me oh well such is life.

going back to France a week on Friday for 10days, so more rampaging up and down streams and flying down the quarry road I just hope I have a bike to take with me cause it going to be very dull if I don't.

I just want one of my bikes to be working

To be fair, i find Dalby abit average now esp after Stainburn, Skye, Fort William. We should arrange something soon mate, its just been hard finding the money latey to be going to far from Brid..

The Peaks does sound pretty good though, heard about many routes and epic rides!

Places where im thinking of riding this year:
    Glentress/Inners 2 day trip
    Stainburn (lots)
Hamsterley (more than once) inc DH courses
    Dalby (quiet abit)
    Whinlatter
    Grizedale
    Kirroughtree
    Dark Peak
    Ladybower
    Lots of Yorkshire Wolds/Moors/Dales riding
Scratchmere Scar (DH course in the lakes)
Coed Llandegla & Coed-y-Brenin (both in North Wales)
    Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

You aint seemed to have much luck in the last few weeks then Barkey....?

I hope you manage to get one of your bikes fixed before you go to France, or like you say you could be a bit of a loss.

Yeah, don't get me wrong about Dalby. It is one of the few places you can just go on a spur of the moment thing and get some enjoyment out of it. But, like you say, especially with me been hammering it for the past couple of years, it does tend to get a bit monotonous every now and then.

Mentioned quite a few good places to ride in your list aswell. Dark Peak, Ladybower, Moors and Dales definitely worth the driving time to get there.

I have just noticed on the MTBRides section that DaveHill is planning a nice little trip round the Lakes, looks like a good one. Now that should be fun, thinking whether I should put me name down.....

Sounds good, SLX arent much different to XT really other than weight....so im told. Hope the rear shock is as good as you expect, and if you dont get it back for sunday give your hardtail a go, so far im doing ok on my hardtail, just need to improve on the fitness i think. Quake and his mate always are ahead of me, buy they are never waitin too long for me to catch up....hope quake can back me up on that one :D

Ill send a private message your way with my mobile if you want to send me a text to arrange a lift to kingswood.

Oh and about the car.....no laughing  but i got myself a Fiat Grande Punto, its one down from the sporting model but is still quite a nippy car.

Sorry for this biblical size post guys

oh my good luck continues, 3 out of the 4 inner chain ring bolts are rounded off btw a shop installed the chainset when I bought it. so I'm gonna have tap them out, a mate said he will drop off a kit and one of the outer bolts I'll just drill that, so just ordered the replacement bolts.

btw Rory I Haven't received a PM I'll email you.
