I've just bought myself a Carrera Vulcan and started riding. Hopefully I might be able to ride with some of you soon when I get my fitness up and get to grips with the bike.

Hi AndyPatio,i suppose the thread title is a bit misleading as the majority of us are from Hull(thread changed),if you have Facebook tho have a look for "Slow rides for unfit people",they tend to do rides allover the place and are based closer to you,hope this helps.0

No you're not mad, think of it as being a 'small minority' instead, I was out Sat morning, 37 miles in the p*ssing rain, saw quite a few others braving it too, to be fair it wasn't a cold day, skins waterproof, really enjoyed it, perks of having a mtb!

midge>ive been doing a few rides during the week on a night,been doing the hornsea track then back through swine/wawne but its a bit over grown and muddy in places,also been doing a bit of urban stuff using cycle tracks round Hull as well to keep up the fitness.

I was going to head out to Brantingham in morning but my free wheel broke at Dalby this morning,ive managed to get a wheel off Giggs but i need a rotor and bolts for it,so ill prob just do Hornsea track/swine/wawne now as i can prob get away with just a front brake :oops:0

Midge its like going to the local pub and picking up the slim bird who weighs 8 stone,you lay down and let her climb aboard and it feels fast and light.....the next night you go to same pub but pick up the bird who is a bit more heavy,same thing you take her home lay down and let her climb aboard,but this time she is slower as she cant move as fast due to her weight.......the lighter the ride the faster it will feel......plz respect it might not be the best reasoning after 4 bottles of ale and 4 cans of lager
