  • Afternoon, i'm new to the forum and looking to join some riders if possible. I normally go on my own but without a driving license i'm stuck to the surrounding areas like Cottingham/Willerby and Brough etc.

Hoping to find some new routes and join some of you on a ride.

  • 1030.... Jeez that's a bit early. I'll probably make it but I'll cut my route short if I'm felling a tad knackered. I'm off out with the other half tonight....

Only for a few drinks though...
  • oh great, do you mind if i use it ? just need to inflate me forks
  • afternoon gents! im back from my little ride, all went well, all finished and no one died. 460 miles and too many hills.

i am off for a weekend at dalby on 4th,5th and 6th october.
taking the tents, so may have to do a dalby night ride!
if you can make it up there, all is welcome.

giggs> that pennine bridleway is a bit harder than i thought, the mary townley loop is a bugger, we had to divert back onto the road to make up the time and milage. i will do it next year if you want to get some plans. it was too much for our riders this time.

Well you will do these crazy routes.....

I knew Pennine BW would be a hard but good ride, that was one of the reasons I was up for that bit. Just a shame at the time I was busy at work. Our kid mentioned it the other day that he wouldn't mind doing some of it next year, we will try and work something out.
  • Hi again,

I'm looking to go out for a ride this coming weekend (28-29) and thinking of going down past Swanland and behind Willerby/Kirkella, I've seen a few bridleways leading off Swanland Dale.

Or if there are anyone else up for doing somewhere better please let me know. Last weekend I didn't ride so really hoping to get out on my bike this coming weekend.

So youre still alive after last weekend then

Just depends on where abouts you live mate,we normally head out via Dunswell lane so meeting place is normally around Asda on Kingswood, just bare in mind that the riding around here is more to do with getting youre fitness up and having a laugh and a joke with fellow riders, also there will be a bit of road riding as well which cant be helped.
  • yeah im ok........... is it ferriby / forshore this time?

I was thinking of heading out that way for a change and coming back the way we did on Sunday,as long as the weather forecast stays as it is at the moment.
  • Fair, well I live down Marlborough Avenue and I bike to work every day, so road cycling isn't a problem. If its ok to join you guys on Sunday that would great. I can meet either at your usual spot in Kingswood or nearer depending on your route.

Where are you thinking of heading?
  • I should be able to make Sunday lads, as long as we are back in time for the World Road Race.

No worries mate,we will be heading out via Hessle foreshore so prob be better for you to meet us at Sculcoates lane/Bev road traffic lights at about 10am.We will head out to Ferriby and then cross the A62 and head upto the Scout camp and then up past the quarry and then see how we go from there,be coming back via skidby then dunswell lane,be looking at about 4 hours riding and about 30-35 miles.

If you have any problems and you cant meet us on Sunday ill check the forum in the morning before setting off,and dont worry if we arnt there spot on 10am,as Giggsmaster aint all that good at telling the time

Darren>you ok getting to mine for a 9-30 start mate?
  • Yeah thats great thanks. I'm a little ill at the moment but should be fine for Sunday. Didn't think I could catch a cold from holding a 4 week old baby for a few minutes.

Hopefully i'll see you on Sunday morning. I'll be in a blue top riding a grey/red Cube hardtail =)
  • yep 9:30 ok. :-)
  • Thanks for today guys, best ride i've been on since getting my MTB.

Although shortly after leaving you guys, I got a puncture. Had to walk home from the railway lines in Cottingham. We must have rode over everything there is and no puncture, and then a thorn killed my front tyre.

Oh well, tyre fixed and ready for work tomorrow.

Although my arse disagrees, I'll definitely have to start joining you guys on more rides if thats ok.
  • Also, some information on our route today. http://www.strava.com/activities/85704391

Well gutted about youre puncture, wasnt you carrying any spare tubes mate?

By the time we got back we had done 36 miles, killer down Dunswell lane with the head wind, and youre more then welcome to join us again, try to mix it up a bit and a few diff routes next time.
  • Not this time no. Will definitely be bringing one next time, and a repair kit.

I look forward to the next ride.
