Sarah glad to hear you & Neil had a good day if I remember right both me and Mand walked up the ladder yeh and everyone you speek to say they rode down it  yes rode a little walked a little still a good day though....Riding on rocks and boulders is bloody hard work aspecialy up hill :o

Ramblers are the enemy, walkers ( which is me at times ) are the nice friendly hold the gate give encouragement on the way up and down type.

I think I rode all but some rocks at the very top last time down it, then last section along side a wall before you turn left hit the wall on a sticky out brick and straight over the bars, yes 2mph holding onto the brakes for dear life. My mates shot down it like a bat out of hell and definately did it all, ahhhh to be young and / or stupid.

There is a descent other side of the main Cafe at the reservoirs, I LOVE, it's a asteroid like boulder field pick a line hold on and just keep hitting rocks and shooting into the air, with a really nice smooth rock section at the end, will have to show you that, trashed my rear wheel seriously going down that the last time, great fun.

Yep I'm up for the Peaks but not 7th/8th Aug as am doing Sleepless in the Saddle.
I'm happy to drive up just for the day as am not a keen camper but could be persuaded if 2 good days of riding are planned.
I'd like to do Cavedale again (downwards!) as last time we went there were far too many walkers about to even give it a go. I've done Jacob's Ladder both down and up but probably pushed up, bit like Jaggers Clough - great down but hell on earth going up!

Cavedale, is a really nasty steep dirt/mud single track descent isn't it, not rocky like the rest of the peaks.

Everyone pushes up Jacob's. best I've seen is someone get to the 1st gate which then goes left, too steep from there, someone did it for MBR or very nearly.

Jaggers, rocky with rock faces either side ??

Done most of these badly with Snow and Ice on the trails.

Erm..it is..hellishly so! the last bit is less rocky as you go through almost a tunnel with rocky outcrops either side of you but the top bit is boulders as big as your head. No fun on a hardtail I can tell you

Jaggers is the one with the river and gate at the bottom, I've seen fit blokes and one or two girls clean that on the way up. Most disheartening!

Unlikely now as am going out with Moggy for a speedy one tomorrow. Can't really do 2 in the week as it's too much of a rush! But I may change my mind so if I do I'll text you :)

That was just what I was about to ask Sassy, it's been slack recently with 1 thing and another.

Yes count me in for that.

Not even attempting speedy ones till my ribs are fully healed, you'll be happy to hear :)

Missgroover - Are you injured too ?

Graham B, would be up for Cannock on Sunday, so count us in if you are up for it !

    Not done the Monkey yet.....

OK well make that a date then, this Sunday the 18th, Monkey ride. Meet 10.00 at Birches Valley?? Will take 2-2.5 hours at a steady pace (I've done it quicker so we can always pick the pace up if we are feeling good!).

I'm not injured as such but have a few things going on requiring drugs and hospital visits. The latest though is a lot of knee pain from riding...have increased my mileage which is probably the cause but am also playing about with riding position which doesn;'t help either. I am already a physical wreck!

Sorry missgroover.... I wasnt being nosey....I just thought perhaps you had done another back flip that I had missed out on!

Time & place is fine for me on Sunday @ Cannock, you can show me how the Monkey is done then...it sounds like you have done it a few times ! :D

    I will check with GB.

Guys - tonight's ride has been cancelled as neither me or Moggy are up for it so if you are going, don't wait for us!

    Hi Korerok87

Ludlow to Wyre Forest is approx 15 or 16 miles away...about 30 - 40 mins drive, so not too far and worth the drive over in my opinion....

As you may know already .....you have other trails on your doorstep too, Hopton, Mortimer Forest and some other stuff...

Miss G, breaking my ribs has sorted my knee pain out, taking a rest from riding is sadly the ownly cure, most of the operations they do on knees don't work, but they do force the person to rest it for a period of time.

Jack, if anything Mortimer has got some trickier stuff there technically than the wyre, as my busted ribs will prove, so if your a newbie Wyre could be a safer option to get you started.

Bike set up has improved so I aim to go back in a few weeks and try those drops again, maybe!!

    Jack,

You have some great trails on your doorstep, i find mortimer and bringewood get very little use compared to the wyre, where id see 50+ other bikers over the wyre i normally only ever see one other group/person over ludlow!

Your welcome to join one of our rides!

This week the ride is Cannock rather the Wyre, but keep your eyes peeled for the next ride!

    Can you make evening/night rides?

    Chris

Who's coming Cannock on Sunday then apart from me and Mounty?

Moggy - Jack's posts above reminded me we still need to organise a Ludlow ride...

There's a HOMBRES (see sig) ride over at Cannock on Sunday. We're meeting at 11 at BV. I imagine it will be a fair bit slower than the ride that I joined Moggy and missgroover on though.
